She's the cutsie morning girl that lightened up the today show. Did she really think anyone was going to talk her seriously as a 'journalist'.
She's got more money than she will ever need. It's all about attention now.
In spite of CBS's Herculean efforts to feed the American public bullshit disguised as 'cutting-edge journalism', they only succeeded in making fools of themselves and Katie. She's clever, attractive and manipulative… but lacks substance. I find it telling that her explanation for single-handedly ruining what once was the most respected news program in America is that people are "unforgiving and resistant to change" instead of realizing the sole responsibility for the ever-increasing migration of viewers is due to her mediocre ability.
Katie sucks. She was mediocre at her best. She's fake and gross!
Oh sure it's all of US who have the problem. It's not that news leaked about her being a bitch around the office and people don't like that, or that she comes off as insincere on the evening news- it's US. We just can't adapt.

She's not doing herself any favors with those comments. I find it a bit incredulous when she mentions she didn't expect the hard news format to be so formidable. CBS is known for its hard news. She comes in and tries to TodayShow-ize the evening news. People know what they like about CBS News and it's not what Katie Couric started with. Now, it's getting better, with far less fluff and much more hard news. I think Katie C. has burned some bridges with those remarks of hers. If she's that dissatisfied, then she should do something else. I'm sure others at CBS News want that.
Give it up Katie. No one, and I mean no one, is watching you. Hope this helps.
She shouldn't have left the Today show. Her story reminds me of Kathy Lee Gifford, when she left Live with Regis. She was going to grow, expand, whatever. Now, all she can do to get a headline is pose nude for Playboy!

More blame from Couric & company. People aren't as 'resistant' to change as she thinks. People are resistant to going from okay or good to worse or bad. She's bad. She's too chatty. This isn't people being unforgiving. THis is people being VERY forgiving but, at the end, Katie just isn't good enough, isn't serious enough, and doesn't have a newscaster's demeanor. She is like a sixty year old child. It's disconcerting to watch and to hear.
She needs to go away…..I hated her on the Today Show, she is a liberal hack, i think she gave head to Bill Clinton and Al Gore, i knew she would bomb at CBS…the network so underestimated her appeal…she is as polarizing as a figure as Hillary Clinton…give me a break, she has enough money…now Katie go far far away…she cannot keep a boyfriend either, proves waht a bitch she is
i'm happy that ur comments are back again..well we made some mistakes in our lives and people might be unforgiving for some reasons but things might fall into pieces if we learn from that mistake and blessings in life will come next that is if we deserve it..right katie?
Two reasons why it didn't work:
1-She was the host of a MORNING show. You can't expect the average American to make that kind of switch, watching their perky hostess now deliver serious news topics at night. Please, how did these seasoned producers not know this?
2- Many people find her bouncy personality unpalatable, especially the more serious evening news crowd.
I don't think it has much to do with her being a woman. Another, more streamlined female would have probably worked. And whether you like her or not you must admit she knows how to work the camera.
It's not that people are resistant to change; people are resistant to HER. She's not only unlikable, she shows her feelings about her news stories. While that can be likable in other situations, she's pretending to be a hard hitting unbiased reporter.
Hindsight for CBS is 20/20. She needs to just keep doing the news (without fluff) and keep her comments to herself. Just do a really good hard news program…consistently…and the people will come back, maybe.
I really thought John Roberts should've been allowed to ascend to the CBS Evening News chair. And, ABC should've made Elizabeth Vargas SOLE anchor of their World News Tonight to take away Katie's "first female anchor" thunder. By doing that, her ratings nightmare wouldn't be so earth-shattering.
She should move to The View

I never liked Katie - she just dosen't seem sincere, and for CBS to pay her that outrageous salary - what a joke!! It's funny though, the people who work the hardest in this country, and who put their lives on the line for us everyday, like policemen, and fire fighters get paid crap - I guess that all any of us has to do is screw someone to get to the top, and look pretty for the camera. She's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, and it's just not working. What I want to know is if she leaves, is she getting the dough?!! Put someone else there who really deserves it - perhaps and unknown would be better - then we don't have to make comparisons. Get lost Katie!!
The simple truth is Katie has talent, and what makes her the talent she is, is her intelligence coupled with the bubbly effervescent upbeat personality. That is what makes her the only her there is and that did not or could not extend itself to the more serious format. I cannot believe with all the network heads that no one could have forseen this.

i love how she has to blame people for not liking new things. the reality is she sucks as an anchor. people don't take her seriously and you can't be all giddy when delivering hard news. she just can't do the job. diane sawyer would have been a much more serious pick.
