Heather Headley was unbelievable in the role - I saw her three times…bit she is getting a little old for the big screen part…loved rent and the orginal cast, but you have to admit that most of the cast was too old for their parts.

Beyonce does not have the class or talent to portray the strength and responsibility needed for the Nubian Princess. End of story.

I haven't even seen the play, but I know the whole thing by heart from the album, and you need Adam's reedy voice and Heather's deep dulcet tones to make the film as good as the stage version. That's not to say I think Beyonce lacks talent, the girl can definitely sing. And I understand Disney's impulse to bring in a big name. But if you're going to do Aida, you have to realize that the musical will either sell itself or it won't. There are still a few people at Disney who realize that you do "RV" for money. "AIDA" you do for the art. It's a trade off, and hopefully by casting they'll figure that out and get someone who will bring a little more weight to the role.

I read the other link on the picture and i can see want the theatre community are talking about if she really wants to be taken seriously as an actress she needs to other roles not just the ones were she sings after a while thats goin toget old and they pic other singer/actresses to play those parts, no that she would to a bad job and it would be kinda weird she her play aida when Destiny child member Michelle Williams played the part on broadways a couple years back.

And on the llink they also had comment on it and so dick said that jessica simpson kept poppin in head when he thought of people to play the role for so odd reason, I wonder if he's even seen the play because last time i checked the character of Aida was a young BLACK woman… i just laugh at the thought of that when i read it..but hey good to Beyonce if she does get the role and she doesnt i know they'll get some just as great to do it.. i suggest the original cast.
