Despite lackluster ratings, CBS is sticking behind their evening news host, Katie Couric.
"She has a five-year contract with CBS to anchor the evening news," CBS News President Sean McManus said on Thursday. "All of us, including Katie, expect her to be anchoring the evening news in her fifth year."
It's probably cheaper keeping her than paying out her contract.
Unless she continues to destroy their ratings even more!

I've never liked her. Many times she would try to conduct a interview with a person who had a latin name, and she thought it was cute not being able to pronounce it. Now that she is not on nbc, I enjoy the morning show!! When she leaves cbs, I'll start watching.

I don't believe the ratings slump talk. I am an example of someone who never, hardly ever watched the "evening news" and now because of Katie I watch it, I watch her, I watch it for her. I love her. I trust her and believe she will always try to do the right thing by the public, her audience and herself. So, I think the ratings slump talk is bull.
Katie Couric is an experienced and smart person. She should not leave or be foreced to leave. It's not fair to blame the anchor for the low ratings. The ratings were lower than the other 3 networks long before she came on the scene. When Dan was the anchor, the ratings were lower than the other networks as well. I like and respect Katie for the professional she is. Why is there so much chatter about her leaving? I don't recall such cacophony of voices be raised to fire Dan Rather. This is the sort of thing that makes people think that this is all about gender. Let's get real in America!!
