Steroids were found in the body of murderer Chris Benoit.

Not only that, but Xanax (and anti-anxiety drug) and hydrocodone (a painkiller) were also found in his system, according to toxicology results released on Tuesday.

The body of the former wrestler's wife, Nancy Benoit, also had Xanax, hydrocodone and hydromporphone in its system.

Their young son, Daniel, also had Xanax in his system at the time of his murder.

The drugs found in his system were legitimate drugs.

Nothing illegal was found in the body. I wish the media would stop their witch hunt for steroids being the cause of these deaths.

OK, Perez, that sentence sounds so weird. Does this mean Benoit was smuggling some crack in his colon like Maria Full of Grace? They probably were found in their systems. If you ever want to hire someone as your editor, I could do the job.

      15

Regardless of whether the drugs were "legitimate" or not, they were abused, and the drugs mixed with an unstable person resulted in three deaths. It's tragic.

This is the saddest shit I have read. That guy was a total Psycho! I'm sure steroids had a major role in this murder/suicide. The doctors that perscribed those "legimate" drugs are nothing more than legal drug dealers.

      17

this was NOT roid rage… roid rage doesnt last over a 3 day extended period! roid rage is one violent quick outburst… this guy was just fucked up in the head! steroids only contributed to an already underlying problem!!

Either way, I hope he's rotting in hell!

    34. Ashlee says – reply to this

      34

      Not exactly Perez.

Nothing was said about steroids. He had "elevated levels of Testosterone" which is a sign of steroids of course…

it's also a sign of freaking out, and going on a homicidal spree, and freaking out beyond control.

The media wants someone to blame, so they're trying to blame the wrestling community, this is NO ONES fault, except Chris Benoit.

As for the drugs found in Nancy's system, she was a wrestler and from my understanding a complete head case, the report is that the drugs in her system were "theraputic levels".

Seems like the guy just snapped really.

most of these drugs were at theraputic levels. The hydromorphodone resulted from the breakdown of the hydrocodone. These drugs are generally taken for pain. NONE OF THESE DRUGS/TESTOSTERONE(steroid) ALTERED CHRIS BENOIT'S BEHAVIOR. The media is just desperate to pin it on steroids. Pathetic.

Yeah Babet, and McDonald's is healthy for you. Get a grip. There's hundreds if not MORE deaths in the US that are related to the use of steroids, whether synthetic or whatnot…..

A high school kid from San Diego, hung himself after taking "Bull Testosterone" … mind you no other shit found in him, except that.

You tell me then what could have caused him to hang himself, and no..he wasn't a "troubled teenager"

      55

Look at the size of his neck…how hard was it for him to hang himself? Do you think it took a very long time because his neck is so muscular? Do you usually die from strangulation or a broken neck when you hang yourself? Doesn't look like that neck breaks easily or strangles easily for that matter. Just sad for everyone involved!

    56. Linda says – reply to this

      56

If you are going to report on this familys death then you better get the FACTS RIGHT. THE DRUGS THAT WERE FOUND IN BENOIT AND HIS WIFE WERE ALL WITHIN THE LEGAL LIMITS. I BETTER REPEAT THIS FOR YOU, AS YOU DO NOT APPEAR TO BE THAT SWIFT. DRUGS FOUND IN THEIR BODIES WERE ALL WITHIN THE LEGAL LIMITS.iT IS BAD ENOUGH WHAT HAS HAPPEN ESPECAILLY WHEN THERE IS A CHILD INVOLVED(child was druged). I can see why there is a law-suit against you. Your web site should be taken off line. Shame on you!! You have no shame you are one nasty gay man. Sure tell you are no Ross the Intern. I think steriods had something to do with his actions. Steriods lower testosterone in men, and men with lower levels of testostersone show more examples of aggresive behavior, contrary to popular beliefs. And I'm sick of the stupid WWF people saying steriods had NOTHING to do with this…because most likely it did.

to all the people who failed chemistry and biology. testosterone is, by definition, a steroid. steroids are a class of chemical. testosterone is in this class. it is the principle naturally occurring steroid in men. when boys hit puberty, testosterone is running rampant. also, there is no documented case of testosterone altering you behavior, however synthetics may or may not.

    65. Charlie says – reply to this

      65

Yeah I love how every posting about this is just saying that they did find steroid in his system. Like it confirms everything that has been predicted about his steroid use. There are other facts that need to be included, like there were normal amounts found and that the toxicologist decided that due to the amount of the testosterone steroid that they were not the cause of any of the deaths. Report the new CORRECTLY please. And this guy is getting his own show…what a crock.

actually i meant that testosterone doesn't alter your behavior like they are saying, i.e. rage inducing, etc. i am well aware of the normal physiological effects of testosterone when the body produces it on its own. these people were referring to being amped on testosterone causing anger. and i never use wikipedia, its incredibly inaccurate. i learned this stuff the old fashioned way, college and grad school.

"Steroids" are found in everyone. The "Steroid" in question found was testosterone. THERE WERE NO ANABOLIC STEROIDS FOUND IN HIS BODY! That is what would have caused roid rage. Benoit was obviously just a sadistic bastard.

You can be such an asshole, Perez. And no, it's not mausing in this instance. You and the media need to abandon your witch hunt because steroids were not foud in his sysyem. Only legitimate drugs were. Not that excuses his actions, but report the finds in its accuracy. Three people are dead and the blame is not at the hands of roid rage. Benoit was seriously disturbed and unfortunately, there are no post humous screenings for mental defect.

They didn't find ANY steroids in his system (which surprised me), they found an intake of testosterone.

      78

Look I've been a wrestling fan for a while now, and a huge fan of Benoits, I'm still in shock of what happened and I don't think anybody will ever truley know why it did, it just makes me sick that many ignorant people out there just blame everything on Steroids. Professional Wrestling is a great buisness that creates heros not monsters, what happened at the Benoit residence that fateful weekend was not something that was going thorough his veins it was what Chris Benoit had going on inside his head that had probably been built up for years that finally snapped. So give the WWE a break, they just lost one of wrestlings all time greats not to metion his legacy.

    81. PolarBear says – reply to this

      81

Well, it is confirmed: Perez can't read.

Testosterone was found in Benoit's body, as they knew it would be since he had a prescription for it due to PAST steroid use.

Virtually everything was at therapeutic levels, except the son who apparently had been sedated.

Benoit didn't kill his family due to roid rage or steroids. He killed his family because something went really wrong in his head. It is very sad and disturbing, but it isn't something that doesn't happen to lots of other non-famous people every day. The pressure builds up, they snap, and kill their family. Benoit was nucking futs. Period. Get over it.

      um… you're wrong.
Instead of everyone in the media going OMGZZZSTEROOIIIDSS!111!! maybe you should get your facts straight. Prescribed testosterone was found in his system, there were NO anabolic steroids.

It drives me nuts, the media either blames 'roid rage' or decides the man has always been a horrible person. It seems obvious to me that there was some sort of mental illness involved in this. Unfortunately the media and society itself underestimates and has a serious misunderstanding of mental illness.

      99

Just because he was prescribed it doesnt mean he was taking it at the time … there were small traces of steriods in his body, not an extreme amount

"Testosterone is a steroid hormone from the androgen group. Testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes of males and the ovaries of females although small amounts are secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid"

He was getting a 10 month supply every few weeks from his doctor.

WWEs policy is that if your doctor prescribes steroids rhen your test comes back clean, not matter how high the levels are.
