It's A Good Day!

Like Christmas, today is one of our favorite days of the year. The Mercury Prize nominees were announced this morning in London!

Since their inception in 1992, the annual Mercury Music Prize awards have set out to reward the best in British music, regardless of genre or style. An independent panel of judges (music industry experts, journalists, record company bosses and the like) selects twelve ‘Albums Of The Year’, before choosing one and announcing the overall winner on the night of the Mercury Music Show.

A few years ago, the U.S. started their own equivalent with the Shortlist Awards.

Some of our favoritest people in the world were nominated today, and we'd like to highlight a few.

Miz Amy Winehouse's Back To Black is definitely the front runner. If you haven't heard Rehab yet, then we don't know where you've been living.

Fionn Regan (pictured above) was nominated for The End of History, featuring the exquisite Be Good or Be Gone.

The wonderfully cooky Bat For Lashes got a nod for her Fur And Gold. If you haven't yet, then definitely check out What's A Girl To Do.

And, the feel-good New Young Pony Club were also nominated for their super fun Fantastic Playroom. Try and not dance to Ice Cream. It's been out for a while, but it's still the song of the summer!

klaxons are ok but they won't be around much longer , the whole new rave scene is a big joke that got out of hand, i go out in shorditch and the new ravers look fucking ridiculous granted not as ridiculous as the emos but they come close second.

Speak for yourself UKer… I'm from London, and I don't love this ugly fat gossiper! And I must say most London thinks he is a fat ridiculous clown! He has no sense of fashion, good taste or charisma… he is just pathetic and believes he is a celebrity when he really is a looser! He couldn't become an actor cause nobody hired him, so he tried to be "famous" by any means… I'l give you 1 year before you dissapear Perez. OK, so what will it take for the fat pig to realize that Irish/Ireland is not the same as the UK/English. Fionn Regan, (just look at the name, for god's sake) is Irish. Calling an Irish a Brit is not good, yet Pigez does it all the time. From now on, I will refer to Pigez as the fat, ugly, Puerto Rican Spic.

Fionn Regan is from Bray in North Wicklow, on the outskirts of Dublin City. He lives in Brighton in England though and his song "be good or begone" was featured in a Toyota or a Citroen advert here in Ireland!

The Mercury Prize celebrates music from the british isles..not british music, ireland although being a member of the british isles, is not british. Therefore it is a prize for music from britain and ireland..why do people always get it wrong.
