Quote Of The Day

winnno.jpg

"I didn't have this tremendous sense of guilt, because I hadn't hurt anyone. Had I physically harmed someone or caused harm to a human being, I think it would have been an entirely different experience. [After] I never said a word. I didn't release a statement. I didn't do anything. I just waited for it to be over. The attention was what was embarrassing. It was the December after Sept. 11. … So much attention was being paid to me, when we had just been attacked, and there was all this really important news going on."

- Winona Ryder speaks out for the first time on her shoplifting arrest in the August issue of Vogue magazine

I loved how she blamed the painkillers for her stealing - how pathetic is that? Regardless of if she feels guilty or not, blaming it on painkillers for her arm is pathetic and she needs to just accept that yes she did it - why? she doesn't know, but she did.

Dude, seriously? Get over it! It was years ago, no one even cares. Winona ryders cool and talented spite that, im sure tons of people have stolen things way worse than she has, she doesnt have anything to be guilty of! Shut up!

I totally agree with the first paragraph of #23. Fuck the big corporations, AND THEIR HIGH PRICES. A shirt shouldn't cost $3,000 fucking dollars, then maybe people wouldn't steal them. And they do exploit third world countries and their workers. Dumbfucks. Regardless of whether or not they can afford it, it's refuckingdiculous.

Anywho, I also agree with that, no luxury department store workers get commissions, I mean, wake up. The owner of the department store didn't lose money because he got his money back, and hey, "He could afford it…" right?

      Wino rocks. :O

PS: WOW #47 is totally obsessed with her! MORE FANS! MORE ATTENTION! WOO.

Wow! Is she saying that her story was bigger than 911? I dont remember that! Her memory must be F###ed up cause nothing was bigger than 911!
I do remember that she was on the news and other shows that made fun of her. But I dont remember that much coverage over her. Maybe I didnt watch enough TV.

    16. Cynthia says – reply to this

      116

God, is she really that retarded? Her press has always tried to portray her as "edgy and smart". "Edgy"? "Twitchy" is more like like it. And "smart"? She's a fucking retard! She actually SAID she had no guilt about what she did? Does she have any idea how that makes her sound? Winona Ryder is a drug-addicted, neurotic, klepto who can't keep her legs closed. And she looks absolutely ridiculous on that cover. She's trying to be grown-up and glamourous, but she can't cut it, not even in that big gown. She looks like a mentally challenged teenage girl who's trying on her grandmother's evening gowns. And that HAIR! Yuk!

      117

Shoplifters are criminals! Because of their thieving, stores have to raise the prices of goods to make up for the loss. If she doesn't see anything wrong in stealing from a store because no one got hurt, she is more ignorant than I thought. She must also have some sort of mental illness to steal when she has the cash to buy things.

Did she ever serve time for her crime?

    21. renn says – reply to this

      121

gee, she has no guilt after committing a crime. Nice. You know, technically, all of us "average income folk" pay the price when people shoplift, as I'm sure most of you know. Companies have to raise the prices of their items to compensate for all of the items that have been stolen. So, technically, we're all victims of Winona's theft crimes. She does owe all of us an apology and maybe this will make her feel a little bit more guilt and/or remorse.

    22. But she's still gorgeous says – reply to this

      122

Oh, of course WE are the ones with the problem.
She should worry about her own priorities.

    23. JD says – reply to this

      123

these people are un-fuckingbelievable why did she shop-lift in the first place with all that money? because she WANTED the attention now she's bitching because she GOT all that attention. Go fuck yourself crazy- bitch, believe or not the world did not revolve around Winona shoplifting shit during 911.

    24. Beth says – reply to this

      124

I love this rationalization she comes up with to justify her actions. Obviously she is still not sorry. "I did not hurt anyone" and "More attention should have been given to 9/11" You did hurt people, shoplifting raises prices. And shame on you for bringing up 9/11 to deflect attention away from yourself. I still do not see any apologies or admission that your actions were wrong. Figures.

Yes, 9/11 was far way more important then knocking off thousands of dollars worth of clothes, especially when you've earnt quite enough to have paid for them, my guess is, she's used to all those freebies they like to give to celebties, I think the idea of those free gifts, is so they can buy more of those products, you know, give her a free i-phone, and that way she'll buy one for each member of their families, and staff, so I guess all you can ask is __Why?onna

      134

she's mixed up, stealing does hurt alot of people, even though to her it might seem like faceless shareholders, it is hurting someone, and also, there is the lack of morale terpitude and the lies she told, doesn't she remember telling them it was for a movie. Her recent comments in regard to this, should be an apology and admitting she made a mistake, she's low class and screwed up

I like Winona but I think it's funny that she's trying to distract people and even get them on her side by making the shop lifting thing seem less important by mentioning 9-11.
Does she expect us all to nod along and agree with her? Yes, there WERE more important things to talk about, you stealing was really not a big deal. The press were stupid for bringing it to our attention….

maybe because i'm not American. I'm sure quite a few Americans will swallow it though

    38. Emily Thompson says – reply to this

      138

Winona is an habitual liar who doesn't feel she has to answer to anyone She did NOT break her arm in two places in the months before she stoke from Saks. In October 2001 she invited NME magazine to her birthday party where her she didn't have a broken arm. In early November 2001 she was at a tribute to Elmer Bernstein and had no broken arm. In the same month she and Courtney Love were seen getting into a fight at a U2 concert. No broken arm again. In December she was caught stealing and said she was rehearsing for a movie. When Winona was caught she had unlawful possession of Oxycodone. She had NO prescription for it because she did NOT break her arm. Her trial revealed in a three-year period Winona filled 37 prescriptions from 20 doctors under a half-dozen aliases, according to a probation report, to obtain opiates for recreational use. Courtney Love was abusing opiates too. The prosecutor dropped the drug charges against Winona in exchange for evidence against a doctor.

I've always thought groupie chicks knew crap about music anyhow.
It's been a long time since that posuer has been relevant, so let's hope this is last we'll hear from her for a long time.

Just admit it thousands of people may sufffer with the same problem and she refuses to be a grown up about it and fess up. She is so over anyway. Later Wino

Winona is atleast more classy than some of these primates out here with the names Lohan (Lord Help Us), Spears (Look how sweet I was compared to how trashy I am now, and Hilton (It's so unfair that a rich person has to abide by the law). Come on guys! Winona has paid her dues! I think she was classy enough to leave for 6 YEARS! to get her act together. Shouldn't we forgive already! If all of y'all are perfect, cast a stone! That's right, you can't because some of you reprobates have worse occurences on your records than she has but hide behind an internet site to spew garbage when you yourself live in a glass house! Winona is hot and atleast she has talent which is more than I can say for Ms. Hilton who uses her fortune and fame all to keep a blonde stereotype in tact. Have you seen her do one good thing since she was sprung loose from jail? It's a sight that remains to be seen. Winona on the other hand should not have to pay with her entire life for a mistake that she made six years ago, one mistake that she has paid her dues for in full. I love her and can't wait to see her on screen again. She's gorgeous!

Winona Ryder is a talented actress who has given us so many great films, Heathers, Beetle Juice, Reality Bites, Dracula, and the list goes on. She is involved in numerous charitable and eco friendly projects. She has even spent time trying to help locate missing children and made people more aware of what a community could do in times of crises. Decades of great work starting in her teen years and some people can only focus on a shop lifting incident. I'm glad I'm not one of them, it seems kind of petty to hang onto one negative event that she was already punished for and ignore the rest of her career which is nothing but positive.
