I LOVE Paul and he has been busy since he won the competition on 17 June. It's just over a month - he has recorded his CD, been giving interviews - including coming to the US for Today. He told an interviewer that plans on fixing his teeth as soon as he can get some time & has scheduled a dental appointment. At least he's REAL & has no desire to get pulled, nipped & tucked into something else like the majority of celebs today.

Paul is such a down-to-earth guy and very talented. I commend him for wanting to stay true to himself (and he did mention in interviews that he plans to have his bridge repaired asap).

#16 - Connie is a little kid groomed by her stage mother. Paul is genuine & has more talent than that kid. She had the cute factor going for her but close your eyes & listen to her and she isn't anything special - sounds like a million other little kids. She has time to train her voice and can be successful later on. Don't begrudge Paul his chance. Thanks P for introducing him to us in the USA!

People who automatically say that all Brits have "bad teeth" are obviously IGNORANT and aren't cultured enough to know that is NOT TRUE. I'm sure it would interest you to know that the common thought of Americans is that we're all FAT, rude, and wear sneakers. If you don't fit into that classification, then stop classifying the Brits as having bad teeth. Some do (as to MANY in the US) but the majority DO NOT.
Paul broke his bridge and was too poor to get it fixed. Don't tell me that there are not Americans in the same situation (of course the SOCIAL SERVICES system will fix them in the US at the expense of those of us who work for a living and pay taxes to support you).

That's the stupidest thing you've ever said. He hasn't gone to a dentist yet because most professional singers will not get dental/orthodontic work because it affects the sound of their voice - yes even veneers make a difference in how you enunciate.

It's not only - or even MAINLY - a cosmetic thing. Singers have to be VERY CAREFUL when they have things done to their mouths. It will effect the way his INSTRUMENT (i.e. his voice) operates, and not necessarily positively

Not to get off the topic of the bad teeth, but opera singers actually shouldn't be fat- especially if they are on stage in a production. The men move around just as much as the women. Andrea Bocelli and Povarotti don't actually do actual operas, they just sing a few songs here and there. As a matter of fact, Povarotti brings a little soprano around with him on tours because he can't get through more than a few songs at a time due to his weight. I'm not saying he has to loose weight, but I am saying he needs to maintain a healthy weight in order to perform to the best of his abilities. He really is quite good!

In an interview, Paul said that he does NOT sing differently with his teeth fixed. He plans on doing that as soon as he gets a break. He is wearing a bridge and couldn't afford to have it repaired when it broke again. He does not plan on teeth whitening or veneers though (good for him!).

Paul isn't fat - he's a bit chubby but definitely not fat. Many opera singers are on the heavy side (meaning not stick thin). The beauty about Paul (aside from his lovely voice) is that he could be any one of us. He's not movie-star molded and doesn't pretend to be something he isn't. He's a regular bloke that took a chance on his dream, in spite of not having a lot of confidence and a broken front tooth.
Imagine what could happen if we all did that - go for what we truly want even with the obstacles. Look him up on the Net if you don't know about him. He's an inspiration and a great role model. Not like some of the celebrities people worship for… what???

#34 - that isn't true. Paul has said in interviews that it does NOT affect his singing at all. He sang before his bridge broke. He had a few bad years in recent past and was in debt. He was just making ends meet and couldn't afford to fix the broken crown. He WANTS to get it fixed, but won't do anything else to his mouth. He hasn't had time right now and until now, hasn't had money to do it.

Ever wonder why a starving boy in Africa with no access to toothpaste or a dentist has perfect thick white teeth? its called the SUN

people in the UK do not have much sun and therefore our teeth do not grow to be strong and white. plus our dental system is not like the US and does not insist children wear braces, its optional unless theres a medical problem. also after the war dentistry was just about neccessity not cosmetic and so a lot of the previous generations had terrible teeth, it is getting better with the newer generations. But the lack of sun plays a big part.

I dont like bad teeth either and cringe at some of the teeth in the UK, but I also hate those chiklet tombstone teeth that people in the US get!!
