The new Harry Potter book sold like hot cakes this past weekend!

The final installment in the franchise moved 8.3 million copies in its first 24 hours on sale in the U.S., setting a new record.

Deathly Hallows averaged more than 300,000 copies in sales per hour - more than 5,000 a minute.

At $34.99 a piece, the last Potter book generated far more revenue than the opening weekend of the latest Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which came out July 10th.

So have you read the last book???

You like it????

hmmmm-plot hole: Hermoine says she cast a memory charm on her parents so they would not know that had a daughter and even assumed different identities-yet not even 2 chapters later, in the dinner trying to escape the death eaters, she says she only read about memory spells and has never done one. WTF? Don't get me wrong but that is kinda a biggy.

i think that it was great, read the whole thing in 2 days, i just couldnt put it down. The ending was a little dissapointing i thought that it could have had a better last sentance. It was way to rushed, but in saying that i think that the whole Harry Potter trilagy was awsome and will go on for ever!
      my book only cost $20.

Bought it on Sat morning (Thailand). Took me 2 nights to read up.
Too much talking/explaining during the last battle, I'd say.
      But love it anyway!

I got it at Books-A-Million for $22 and finished it within the 24hrs I got it…it was absolutely AMAZING!!! J.K. did such a FABULOUS JOB! I had tears in my eyes after I read the last part of it (19yrs later). It was everything I hoped it would be and much much more!!!

loved it, but one thing that bothered me was that when harry went into the headmasters' office for the last time and the portraits all cheered, i was sure that he was going to be the next man of the job, and when that didn't happen, i was waiting for it in the epilogue, and it still didn't happen. i think it would have made it better, if not that, to at least hear what the generation WE know (harry, ron, ginny, etc.) is up to professionally, because, personally, i don't care much about their kids until there is a new JKR series about them.

The new book was a great and terrible beauty.

And, due to my boyfriend's employee discount/hook-ups, I was the third person in line at my city's main Barnes&Noble and only pad $22.

Read it, Read it, Read it, because the movie is [most likely] going to suck even worse then The Order of the Phoenix did.

and it sucked worse than Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise in between takes of the shower scene of Top Gun.

      Dearest Tracy,

The reason you don't undertsand the "obsession" with the books is most probably the fact you don't have the skills to read one.

Although Britains excepted most good tv comes from America,
Fabulous literature will always come from Britain.

      Regards
      Miss Pout

Will you people seriously get a life? Losing yourself in a children's book?…you should be ashamed…pick up some real literature, not an easy-read baby blabber series and call yourselves read! Unreal.

Loved it! Rowling should write another book about Ron and Hermione only! Love the hole romance between these two.

Loved the book just wished Ginny played a larger part in it. The first 500 pages are great but then it seems JK just run out of time and decided to rush everything. Should've been much longer. Really hope she'll write another book about the nineteen years gap.

Finished it in 24hours. this may be the best book yet. But be aware, it is also the most violent and scary. Many fights, many die.

342!! (why does everyone put "first"??? especially when most of them aren't???)
I loved this book! So cute - fairly lame, yet kid-friendly epilogue. happy how she tied up the Snape story-line. *spolier* Distressed about the twins - wrong. so so wrong. Everyone kept telling me she was going to kill off one of the "big 3" and I was going to get my ass to England and bitch-slap JK if that was the case. So I was delighted with the turn-out.

      341

I feel as though a great friendship has ended, I read the book so fast and now I feel lost! It was incredible, although I wasn't too impressed with the "Nineteen Years Later" epilogue. I really think JK could have elaborated more on what the characters become in those 19 years, who the headmaster becomes, who the actual Ministry for Magic is since Kingsley was temporary, I just want some answers!

Don't you guys who finished the book like waaaaay fast feel this empty void in ur life as you finished it. talking avid fans,of course. harry potter is not to be rushed but be allowed to spin its magic; to be cherished as each page is read.
the book was great until page 500 and was a little rushed though. could have had a more detailed storyline towards the end. i was actualli waiting for this dramatic duel btwn voldie and hay but was disappointed by how it turned out. Fred's death was unnecessary.

BRILLIANT. THIS WHOLE SERIES HAS SUCKED ME IN UNLIKE ANY BOOK HAS DONE BEFORE. I CRIED FOR HOURS. LIKE ALL OF US DIE HARD POTTER FANS, THE FACT THAT IT IS OVER IS HEARTBREAKING. AT LEAST WE STILL HAVE 2 MORE MOVIES, WHICH OF COURSE WILL HAVE NOTHING ON THE BOOKS, BUT IT'S STILL SOMETHING..
