True to his shady behavior in the past, Lindsay's ex-convict father, Michael Lohan, who was released from jail just a few months ago, is talking and talking and talking and talking.
He's taking a very private family matter into the media spotlight, and that's just not cool.
And he wonders why Lindsay wants nothing to do with him!
Michael just spoke with TV's Inside Edition and we just wanna slap him.
He says:
“I was shocked. I tried to call Lindsay three times yesterday, three or four times and I just felt that I needed to speak to her and unfortunately she was in her tango lesson for her next movie… I was blind-sided with this information. I don’t know what to say.”
“Obviously it’s a call for help. I mean come on things happen for a reason. And, I really feel that sometimes we have to be brought to our knees. And, I just think Lindsay needs both of her parents there by her side now as do all my children. But, right now Lindsay’s the one in jeopardy and I just want this resolved. I want everything taken out of court. Dina and I have to put our differences aside and just be there for our kids.”
“I mean they are all there because they are making money off of Lindsay and they listen to what she wants. They care about what they can get rather than what Lindsay’s about as a human being, Lindsay herself. It sickens me that people can be that greedy and full of that much pride. And care about them-selves and be so selfish, so full of themselves that they wouldn’t even care about her as a human being.”
“I think we all have to accept responsibility. I accept my own responsibility for what happened with Lindsay and what is going on in her life right now. But I think we all have to hold ourselves accountable.”
“I think that there is still a lot of pain inside of Lindsay that she is trying to drown and numb. And, unfortunately I went through the same thing myself and that is why I’ve withdrawn everything. Or, I am attempting to withdraw everything from court. I just feel that our children — all of them — need us in their lives. Whether we are together as husband and wife or not, Dina and I just need to be there for our kids.”
“I’m doing all I can do to help you [Lindsay]. And I wanted to for so long, it is a shame that people came between us and we’ve been separated like this. But I’ll do all I can to be there for you.”

Whether or not Michael is looking for a spot light, his words are really positive and they are what Lindsey really needs to understand. Being a celebrity doesn't take away from the fact that she is a young girl, who really hasn't had a traditional "All American" up bringing. SHe needs to know her body is no different than anyone elses and she needs her body in order to succeed in her career. Her father learned about some things the hard way, and maybe his back ground can bring some insight into Lindsey's life. She may not want him as a "father figure" but she needs to understand that he cares, and she can talk to him about what REALLY goes on. Afterall.. she learned it from him. This is not meant to excuse his other violent behaviour, but to point out that a father should not be so alienated from his daughter, as to be treated as a stranger, with no say or access to his daughter, particularly in troubled times..

It is a sad and unfortunate situation, to have a loved one fall victim to addiction. As a recovering addict and alcoholic myself, it appears that Michael Lohan's comments are sincere. It should be obvious that the press went running to him for comment and his priorities are appropriate. I have not doubt that he feels a great deal of responsibility not only to the division within his family due to his own addiction/alcoholism, but also has the knowledge that he is at least partially responsible for passing along a genetic predisposition for addiction to his daughter. Any parent in a similar situation would suffer. In the end, the guy should be given the benefit of doubt.

Perhaps Lindsays father is doing the right thing by being so vocal about her addictions/illness. Afterall, remember how Martin Sheen (Charlies dad) begged the judge to sentence Charlie harshly. Martin did what he had to do to get Charlie well. It's time for Dina to step up to the plate and be a REAL MOTHER to Lindsay. Dina needs to do whatever it takes to get her daughter well. I think Dina should be ashamed of herself. She needs to quit the sister act, quit riding her daughter's coat-tails and start setting a good example for for her children.
Michael Lohan has expressed responsibility for the negative influence he has on his daughter. His behavior was the reason why his daughter had inherited her father's destructive habits. Had Mr. Lohan been a better father and a more sensitive human being, his daughter would not be in this type of mess. Instead, Mr. Lohan engaged himself in his most destructive habits causing a huge friction in the family and I do not blame his wife, Dina for that type of behavior. I think Lohan should learn to grow up and to stop harming his dear daughter before it is too late.
