The father of former addict Charlie Sheen, Martin, is adding his two cents into the Lohan public debate.
The West Wing vet, who worked with Lindsay on the film Bobby, tells TV's Extra:
“The bottom line is you have to get through the entourages that surround these celebrities who are spinning out of control. They [entourages] don’t want to let it go, this is their meal ticket. I literally disarmed them. Some of them had guns, literally. [As a parent] you get in there and fight for life. You get between her and the grave and you say…I won’t allow it.”

I think Martin Sheen is more talking in general about what a parent of a child (or grown-up) with problems should be doing. Like he did. To save your child, no matter how old, you need to face the issue and deal with it. Which oviously Dina Lohan is not doing. A lot of people could learn from this one quote of his, maybe he should be interviewed more often as he sounds pretty wise.

The worst thing you can do as a parent is to get involved. Sorry if that's not the Cinderella answer everyone wants to hear, but that kind of interference makes kids want to do drugs even more (rebellion?). Let them find their own way, but kick them out of the house and don't give them cash. They'll stop eventually.
I agree with Martin. Obviously she has to take responsibility for her actions, but those around her certainly don't seem to have her best interest at heart. True friends would support her. I've wondered about this in all the recent stories…how sad that these friendships are so shallow that they watch their "friends" destroy their lives, all the while enabling the behavior, rather than helping them get back on track.

When I was here age I acted out in a very similiar way. The difference was I didn't have cameras in my face and blogs "reporting" on my every move. I was stupid, the people around me were stupid and luckily I got it out of my system and moved on. Not sure if I could have if I was in the same position as Lohan. So give the girl a fucking break. i think he's rite. although u can not blame all of it on the entourage. he is saying that they are part of the problem. but he may be part of the reason his son was on drugs in the first place, but at least he fought for his kid. he really did everything he could for his kid. it shows that he cared.

Sheen was speaking as a former alcoholic, as a father of an addict, and as someone who knows the industry and all its trappings. Who better to speak out or give unsolicited advice?! I think what he said make terrific sense and, if Lohan–or anyone else in her current poisition–really wants to move on from this and realize her true potential, she would be wise to take heed. I believe Lindsay is one of the better talents of her generation and I'd love nothing more than to see her do the hard, honest work necessary to get herself into some hard, honest recovery. (A component of recovery involves cutting all ties with your "using life." Her entourage is just the beginning. If rumors are to be believed–and usually there tends to be SOME truth to the more persistent ones–than Ms. Lohan needs to take an honest look at her immediate family and see who is truly on her side and who may be simply hitching on for the free ride.)
I wish her luck. I know what it takes to battle this disease and it's going to take all she has and more to find true recovery.

Why is everyone coming down on MS? I am not a fan, but he's right. A lot of times the entourage wants the star to stay dependent and drugged because he/she is their meal ticket. Sadly, in this case, it's Lyndsay's own mother.
Martin Sheen knows what he's talking about. He did everything he could to help Charlie overcome his addictions, and he was successful. What did Dina Lohan do - hmm, sent Lindsay off to rehab, then partied with her when she got out! I think the people around do influence Lindsay and other celebrities as well. She needs to separate herself from the people that are having a negative influence on her life.

An entourage is a group of people that hangs out with you and surrounds you(generally this takes place when a person posseses fame). So Sheen is basically speaking the truth and stating that Lohan is being influenced by people who WANT Linsday to remain on drugs and party hard…because it is the only way that they can go out and party with the big stars themselves…(their meal ticket).
