Celebrity smut peddler David Hans Schmidt has been arrested!

He messed with the wrong star this time - Tom Cruise.

The FBI detained Schmidt on Tuesday and it is believed he is being held at their federal detention center in LA for attempting to blackmail the Scientologist.

The self-proclaimed "Sultan of Sleaze" allegedly tried to sell Cruise a large cache of private photos from the actor's November 2006 wedding to Katie Holmes. He was demanding $1 million for the pics, which Cruise's lawyer says were stolen.

Schmidt approached Cruise's camp earlier this year about the pics and Tom's lawyer immediately called the FBI. The matter was then handled by federal investigators (presumably with some working in an undercover capacity).

One thing lead to another and now Schmidt is behind bars.

Unfortunately, there are no nude pics in the bunch of stolen photos. Then why did the smut peddler think he could get $1 mill for them?

What is the content of the pics???

      There are a few reasons someone would pay $$ for those pics.
      1- Pic of Cruise stacking books to stand on for a pic with Katie.
      2- Cruise spending honeymoon night with Katie (not likely)
      3- Cruise spending honeymoon night with another man (more than likely)
      4- Cruise shaking hands with fertility doctor who used turkey baster to inseminate Katie (we all know Tom thinks girls are icky)

      a while back I read a blind item on another blog that revealed that a pap had contacted an entertainment lawyer because he had been staking out a famous couple's place (using a spy lense) and seen the man hitting his wife on several occasions. Meanwhile, the pap waited (for days/weeks) until the wife left he "compound" and, according to the lawyer, he "got his money shot". The pap then approached the male actor (big star) to get money for his pics (which must have shown some gay lovin').
      After reading this entry - it's obvious that the couple is TomKat!

      It's obvious that the pictures are not pictures of TomKat's wedding. Maybe the day after the wedding such pictures would have been worth a million bucks but it is old news now and there is no reason for either Schmidt to ask for that much money or Tiny Tom to have cared one way or another whether they were published. As a matter of fact, with the crashing of public opinion of Cruise and Scientology in general lately, such pictures would have softened his image. No, these pictures had to have been something that Tiny Tom and Scientology realized would blow the lid off of their money making scam. There is nothing in the world that Tiny Tom and Scientology want to keep hidden more that Tiny Tom's "sexuality". (or Travolta's or Smith's or Beckham's for that matter). Nothing else would require this reaction. My opinion only but the only one that fits the facts. Tiny Tom's world is beginning to crack and will begin to crumble. Let's hope the crash waits until LL's trial and Nicole's trial and Britneys crash are over so it isn't overshadowed in the news !!! (besides Perez would have to go the hospital for "dehydration and exhaustion and Male Nurses if it all happened at once !!!)

      This Schmidt guy has a long history of doing this sort of thing and NEVER had the FBI drop in on his ass. Its my understanding that what he is doing (for better or worse) is completly legal. You have to wonder, are these pictures VERY interesting, comprimising, or show the unatural and contrived connection of the married couple?? Either way, a couple of the deets are facts..
      1) the last time someone took the gloves off (no pun intended) to swing at his Cruisiness, it was a long drawn out (and very expensive) ordeal ending with the gay French adult porn star being very silenced about his cruise encounter..anyone remeber that one?
