Happy Anniversary!!!!!….
TO ME!!!!!!!
So it was a year ago that I decided to let the world know who I really am… and I swear it has been the most amazing experience. Scary at times , but in the end the best thing I have ever done. I want to thank everyone that has been so supportive and showing that this world has and will continue to change in the right direction. With the election coming up, it is even more important that we stand up for what we believe in and be heard. Enviroment, war, civil rights, education…. the list goes on and on. I encourage everyone to learn more this year about ALL the issues that need attention. Some of you will actively be heard and support some issues, and others will just be educated— in the end all that matters is we all are going to have a hand in changing this world for the better!
Also as an Anniversary gift for me …think about doing this….
If you are having trouble being yourself , and are scared to tell someone you are gay— find that loyal friend, family member, or even hotline and tell someone. All it takes is to tell one person and the ball starts rolling. You will get great advice and and be so much happier. Or, if you have always wanted to ask that family member or friend if they were gay.. do it now…. in a very positive and private way , tell them it is ok and you will always be there no matter what. Sometimes its easier for someone to just flat out ask you. To bulid the courage to say it sometimes takes years.
It's 2007 people , there is no reason we should not be exactly who we want to be- sexual preference, profession, religion, etc. Just respect the fact that everyone is different and live your own lives the way you want! It's good to be alive and we can do and achieve anything we want!
So go do something positive, nice, fun, or just laugh… it doesnt affect just you .. it catches on!

I’d say he has the right to use Sexual Preference if he so chooses as one’s identification of one’s sexuality is defined accordingly. I do believe that while we may not choose to BE gay we do choose to– or not to–LIVE gay. As much as straight people choose to live straight….look at how many gay men and women choose (or are feared into) living the straight life. The choice is not in who we are attracted to, but in the acting upon that attraction. In the end I believe it does not much matter whether it is a choice or not; what matters is that people realize, irrespective of nature or choice, one has the right to live the way one wants within the parameters of not infringing on another's rights. I think that people that still argue over choice or nature really get the conversation wrong, because the answer to such does not much matter and will not move our agenda for equal rights forward; indeed I'd imagine it has made it rather stagnant.

First of all, Lance, did we, the world, really need to know who you really are? It must be typical of "celebrities" to think that everybody automatically cares what they say, think and do. Secondly, before outlining the political agenda for the next election, at least check to make sure that everyone agrees with you. All the people ragging about the term "Sexual Preference" need to lighten up. To me it doesn't mean "I prefer to sleep with men but I can be coerced to change my mind" but rather the honest understanding that there are many, many gay men out there who hide as hetero men sleeping with women. And while they wouldn't spontaneously combust during the act, they would prefer (see, see what I did there?) to live their life in the manner that would be true to themselves and acknowledge their true attraction. Saying "Sexual Preference" isn't something one says to themselves to convince themselves or any one else but rather as a tool to explain to someone who isn't in a position to understand first hand.
In the end, his post will do way more to help closeted teens then all of your ramblings (including mine) rolled together. Good for you lance. You're being a positive roll model.
