Kelly To Release New Album In Months! Making Things Right!
Finally!
Following the critical and commercial disappointment of her most recent album, My December, and the controversy surrounding it, Kelly Clarkson has agreed to start working on a new album right away, which will be released in 2008.
Clarkson's last album, Breakaway, sold a whopping six million copies in the U.S. alone. My December is expected to sell only about 850,000.
It seems like Kelly has realized the error of her ways and is taking the appropriate steps to ensure she gets her career back on track.
My December, which was released just weeks ago, was shelved by music mogul Clive Davis for months because he didn't think the album had any hits.
Clarkson ended up cancelling her poor-selling summer tour and firing her manager, as a result of all the dramz.
Realizing the error of her ways, Kelly took the bold move of apologizing publicly to Clive Davis earlier this week.
The new album that Clarkson is recording will definitely be more radio friendly and promises to have the big pop hits this recent album lacks. Davis is overseeing the new project from its inception.

The album really isn't as bad as people are saying. I give her lots of credit for wanting to do her own thing. If Sony wants to make some money, they need to release "One Minute" as that is the most radio-friendly single.
Every artist has their slump and Kelly is experiencing that at the moment. She will pop back and be back at the top soon.

My December is a great album!! It hasn't had the sales of her others because it isn't radio friendly, not because it is bad. I thought of it as a breath of fresh air among the overly saturated- female pop star with some generically named hip hop artist throwing in a rhyme or two- tracks that raido has in regular rotation. This girl has a beautiful voice.

You keep failing to mention that it sold more than both "Thankful" and "Breakaway" did in their first weeks….
You just failed to mentioned that a 4th album has been in talks since BEFORE the 3rd came out…

If her tour was axed due to poor ticket sales this girl maybe saw the writing on the wall. Ticket sales make between 35-65% of an artists income. The album is more for image, branding and reach given that the record label takes the lions share of income from album sales. Even Maria Carey couldn't out diva the economics of the music biz - I think she is the only artist I know who was paid-in-full to leave. Kelly is not that big. If she were asked to leave it would not include the equivalent of a buy-out severance. Humble pie was the only option she had to save her career.
I like this chick even more now. She learned that sometimes the right thing to do is defer to someone who has a long term track record. Maybe she could have comprimised a little more with Clive Davis. She's going to have a long, good career. BTW when was this picture of her taken? The stone age? I think it was before she discovered her love of waffles.

My December is a decent album. Most of the people ripping on it, and her, have never even heard it. It's sad that it's only about marketing anymore, and not talent. I love Kelly Clarkson ever since American Idol, and I applaud her fighting for "My December", it is a great album indeed. I personally love it and it's one of my favorite, but not a favorite in parties or at clubs…. It's more personal and much more about her love past…
She is a great artist! both out on stage and personally… she now noticed her mistake, and she knows what to do….

So Perez are you on Clive's payroll? Seems you've dissed Kelly at every turn rather than applauding her attempt to establish her own artistic control and vision, something you otherwise seem enamored about in other artists.
I think Kelly's new album is great. It is really unfortunate that she is doing this. And it is also interesting that so many people will make negative comments about pop stars not writing their own music or sounding to made up…and here is a time when a pop artists decides to do her own thing and be who she wants and again gets so much negativity towards her music. The only reason she got bad reviews is because Clive Davis is such a heavy weight in the music industry…reviews are all politics…you get a bad review only if you are on bad terms with the critics…it doesn't even seem to matter if you music is actually good.
I wish Kelly the best of luck no matter what she does. She's a great artist.

Hits Schmitz. My December is by far her best album. Yes, intelligent people and her true fans bought it. Remember, it was the tweens and early teens who bought Breakaway in droves. Now they're almost in college and they've moved on. That's why sales are down. Did you buy the same music at 15 that you did at 12? Did Alanis sell as many copies after Jagged Little Pill? Of course not. Very rarely does an artist have 2 blockbusters in a row. Why were tickets sales low? Because in the SF Bay Area at least, she's been here 5 or more times in the past 3 years. It's 2007. Who listens to radio? Davis is a 200 year old troll with too much control. He unleashes crap after crap and he is why record sales have tanked for years.

'my december' is a great album. Sales are NOT an indicator of quality; nevertheless, the album has sold rather well. Katherine McPhee did everything Clive Davis told her and her album sold very little, AND in my opinion, is a medicore CD from someone who deserves better.

My December is a really good album, who cares if it's not "radio friendly" I'd rather listen to a good song from this album than that piece of crap "Party like a rockstar" song. I mean seriously "Chivas" the hidden track is such an amazing song, so raw but with sooooo much passion that really blows my mind. I wish artists nowadays could sing a song like that, yeah the lyrics may be simple and straigh-forward but the way she sings that song gives me chills. It is a little dissapointing to see her give in, but it is understandable because if she doesnt she may have the same luck as Christina Aguilera who has had the guts to stick to her ideas and projects(which are superb) but has cost her the fame she had when her first album came out. Back to Basics is just like My December, so good but not "radio-friendly"……bullshit!!! People start listening to good music for God's sake!!!
