Veteran broadcaster Tom Snyder has passed away.

The Tomorrow Show and Late Late Show host died Sunday at age 71 in San Francisco from complications associated with leukemia.

      Tom was a consummate professional, an amazing broadcaster, and a really nice guy. He was one of the old guard of broadcasting…scotch, smoking and scoops…he truly was "what you see is what you get."

      His kind are dwindling in the media, and we're all suffering for it.

      Rest in peace, Mr. Snyder. You're one of the reasons I got into the business, and you will be missed.

      I remember being young and staying up late to watch his show. I had to wait for my parents to go to sleep and sneak out and watch it on our one television. Now I have a television in every room. I wonder if Tom Snyder is to blame for that?

      Gosh, this man died! I hope that the people who wrote venemous comments are in some way kidding, because that is in poor taste.
      Tom Snyder was a great interviewer, and I enjoyed his latter show, The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder. RIP Tom!

      Tom was the consummate professional. Moreover, he had class. Unfortunately, his brand of class is not something that has rubbed off on today's media "professionals". Ironically, Tom had an intense dislike of gossip columnists, stemming from the unwelcome paring of he and Rona Barrett in 1980, effectively killing the Tomorrow Show that he helmed so diligently since 1973. With Tom Snyder, you know what you were getting, and you enjoyed it as it all happened. It's sad that today's generation is unfamiliar with Tom and his brand of folksy entertainment schmoozing. All the same, he will be missed by some of us who stayed up late enough to get to know him. Rest in Peace, Tom, and as you used to say: "Fire up a colortini, sit back, relax, and watch the pictures, now, as they fly through the air."

      he will be missed. he was iconic, and as someone mentioned, "old-school". his generation of journalist/host didn't have to bargain with publicists for approved questions. it was more on "his terms" —-the way he interviewed. he was irreverent and didn't take himself too seriously. i haven't tear-up at the loss of a famous person in years and his passing has brought tears to my eyes.

      I used to watch Tom Snyder as the anchor of the local NBC news in L.A. He was great and a one of a kind person. That job took him to higher things. He will be greatly missed. RIP.

      I will tell my own personal TOM SNYDER story…

      Years ago, he used to smoke on camera, and this really annoyed me, as it set a really bad example for others… I wrote him so letters, he ignored them.

      Then one night/morning, I was watching his show, and I noticed some snot dripping out of his nose… I wrote him a letter about it, and told him how disgusting I thought he was.

      To my surprise, he read the whole letter ON THE AIR, saying things like, "I can't believe what this person wrote… he must be mentally deranged…he says he saw SNOT dripping from my nose on this show… " etc. It was pretty funny to me. Well, I think he came to his senses, and stopped smoking on air.

      I liked his show a lot, and thought he was a good guy… pretty hip actually.

      He will be missed.

      It happens because all the great ones are up in age. We also just hours ago lost Bill Walsh of the San Francisco 49ers!

      Trouble with losing all these stars and Vegas Headliners are there just isn't others following in their path!

      If you think back just few years how many we have lost and its sad!

      We have very few real news people or top name singers any longer!

      Where we had a handful of these people they now push hundrens out there with half the talent!

      What's "sad" is someone posting here admitting that they don't know who Tom Snyder is. Well, in the amount of time it took you to type that message, you could have Googled Tom Snyder and learned as much as you would have needed to know about his contribution to the areas of journalism, radio and late night TV. For me, Tom's passing is an end of an era. He will be missed.

      I wandered into his television farewell party at the Sky Bar years ago by accident. I got the total VIP treatment without realizing it was because he was having a party….the bouncers just saw Snyder on my i.d. and let my friend & I through for the party and drinks. Total crazy coincidence! It wasn't until I saw him that I realized what was going on & that's why I got into the private party(and I just thought it was bc I was looking extra fly ha!) It was so much fun & I always thought he would like to know he made it a memorable night.

      One of the best shows ever on TV. LOVED LOVED the one on ones, and Toms' laugh I will remember forever. Used to watch J Carson monologue and then skip til Tom was on. Just hope someone will DVD his past shows so we remember what real celeb (on informative) TV is really about. Great respect for this man.

      I worked as a page when Mr Snyder had his show at CBS …. He was always so nice and a wonderful person to work for at Television City……God bless you, Tom….you and your family will be in my prayers.
