I feel for this guy……My uncle recently got into a car with a drunk driver and got into a car crash and was killed. The driver is still walking and is not remorseful at all. This man has showed his remorse and I dont think thats something that can be "acted". He knows he did wrong and is truely sorry. You cant say anything about this kind of situation unless you or someone you are close to has had to deal with this kind of situation on either sides of it.

I can't judge. I've driven really drunk before, like an idiot. For whatever reason, I didn't have an accident and I didn't kill anone, thank God. I also climbed into cars that had drunk drivers, being wasted myself. I can't help but feel bad for him, having to go through life knowing you are solely responsible for someone else's death, as well as the grief and sorrow of his parents. I seriously don't think I could live with that guilt. Seeing stories like this make me sit up and take notice, and already start the dialogue with my 7 year old about what can happen when people drink and drive. Call a cab, call a friend, call your parents…doesn't matter, just don't drink and drive. I am so lucky, this guy wasn't. I don't know if his remorse is genuine, I'm naive, so I have to think it is, I mean how could anyone be okay about killing a 17 year old and then having to look their parents in the eye and say its your fault? Hopefully there are discussions across America right now about drinking and driving and maybe this story will sink in with future potential drunk drivers…and save some lives. Sad all around, really. God bless the family.

uh.. he's taking responsibility because it's the smart thing to do in a case like this. And he didn't have much 'remorse' until his lawyers told him to. Why didn't he apologize to the parents? And why did he lie to one of the other passengers–he told one of the girls in the hospital after the accident that the kid who died was driving. Doesn't that seem a little fishy? And lest we forget he was partying with kids like 5 years younger than him? I would feel more for him if he was with people his age who were responsible enough to make the decision to drink and get in the car with someone who had been drinking.

But the worst was that PSA (public service announcement). It is very obvious he is acting, and he is doing a bad job at it. It's revolting.

I feel sorry for him. He had it rough growing up and just when his career started to roll, shit hit the fan. All of you bashing him, oh puhhlease save it for someone who cares. Don't pretend like you never got crazy whn you were young. I think that he is genuine in his remorse. He's been looking like that ever since the incident happened. I think that a 90 day sentence is enough for him because his conscience will always remind him of what he did. all you haters need to get off his shit. he pleaded GUILTY unlike most of the other celebs that get busted for things. he already knew what he did was wrong, and rather than making the family of the victim sit through a trial, where virtually the entire night would be reenacted by the prosecutors, he decided to live up to what he did and pay the penalties. he did get off easy, i will agree with that, but give him a break. putting him in jail for 6 years isn't going to erase the fact that he killed someone, which is going to be in his mind for the rest of his life.

and the PSA was a good one. he didn't seem like he was acting or being fake in it, he was reliving his experience, and letting everyone know what can happen in the blink of an eye.

Lane is genuine in his words and to be looked up to for that. It's unlikely that Mr. Garrison is disingenuious with his comments in court or his actions since that time.

A young man that can be held up as a role model as someone who has learned from his drinking and driving experience. A tortured soul Mr. Garrison is, you can see it in Lane's face and in his eyes. Mr. Garrison is an honest young man.

I wish Lane the very best things in life for he has gone through a part of hell here on earth; and will continue to do so for the rest of his life. I will say a prayer that eventually he can and hopefully will put this in the past and live a happy and productive life. An forgive himself for God has.

The best to you Lane Garrison it could have been any one of us who have ever had two drinks on an empty stomach. So you weren't sitting in court by yourself at all, it only felt that way.

And the person who makes any derrogatory remarks to you are the man and woman who aren't being honest about their own past habits of drinking and driving, road rage, being too tired, or use of the phone while driving, the only difference is all of us just lucked out and weren't caught.

I see what you are all saying and these are all thoughts that make sense and are valid but that is not how the justice system works. Yes he just drove drunk, just like Paris and Lindsay and countless others, but the law is designed so that if you get in a car after drinking you are responsible for whatever happens. If you were lucky enough to not get into an accident, you get punished. But if you were unfortunate to get into an accident and KILL somebody you HAVE to take responsibility for your actions. He did do that but 90 days for vehicular manslaughter of this magnitude really is ridiculous (the D.A. is probably shocked right now). People who do this, while it is unfortunate, should be given jail time.. many people who kill someone through drunk driving have to serve longer than 6 years. They need to be sent to jail for awhile to set a precedent. To scare people into not driving drunk. It's either you punish the drunk drivers who did kill people, and only minorly punish the ones who didn't, or you punish ANYBODY who drives drunk with the same punishment just because it could happen to any of them.

Also, while I do agree this guy seems to be a much better person than Lindsay Lohan (but that's not saying much), of course Lindsay Lohan would feel bad and plead guilty if she killed somebody. Pleading not guilty in this case could mean a ton of jailtime and pleading guilty looks good to the judge and the public, plain and simple.

17 yrs old is old enough to know right from wrong. Just like Garrison will have to live with this for the rest of his life. Where was the teenagers parents? If any of those teens at that party would have been driving and killed somebody - what would the parents have to say? I have a sister in law who loves to party like she was Paris Hilton. She even had 500 people at my mother in laws house and alot of alcohol. My mother in law was stupid for allowing the party and could have been responsible for a lot of bad things happening. Its the influence of Hollywood. I believe that Garrison should have faced 3 years in Jail not 90 days. But the teens and parents have to take responsibility too.

i feel bad for him. a night of debauchery gone horribly wrong. at least he's living up to his responsibility to face his crimes and pay for them.

Their fateful nights could have gone the same way as Lane's. If anything, you shouldn't be making light of a situation of a person's death. He is actually sorry, and not saying it for publicity like Paris. Lindsay still won't admit to any wrongdoing.
