I go to school at the U of M… was stuck in traffic right when it happened going to a review session. Scariest thing ever. Too bad Fox News has spent the whole night trying to make it seem like a terrorist attack…. But thanks for the post - its good to know people care about more than just crackhead Britney or coked out Lindsey.

#14 - Nikki i know what you mean , i woke up at 7 am, uk time and was convinced for about an hour that it was a terror attack because of fox news and their garbage.
i'm switching to bbc news 24 now even if they're not leading with this story.

"We say that the hour of death cannot be forecast, but when we say this we imagine that hour as placed in an obscure and distant future. It never occurs to us that it has any connection with the day already begun or that death could arrive this same afternoon, this afternoon which is so certain and which has every hour filled in advance." ~Marcel Proust

God Bless them…be with the victims and their families at this time and always.

On a second note - SERIOUSLY the immaturity of people typing "First" (in what ever variation they choose) It looks rediculous enough when done on celebrity-esque commentaries…but to do it on a post about a tragic accident that has claimed numerous lives? PATHETIC!

Thanks for your concern Perez, were here in Minneapolis still in shock from today. We were about 15 minutes behind the bridge collapsing on 35w and it really hit close to home.
Thanks for your support we love ya!

      23

This day is a day that will live on in my mind for a long time. I've been a resident of Minneapolis for the past three years and the 35W Bridge was something I passed over daily on my way to work and back to my home. It was, and still is, an absolute shock to see everything going down. Events like these will put things into perspective for you. My condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to the city, families and friends.

Maybe you should stop trying to bring people down in a time when they are just expressing their condolences and take the time to learn how to spell or better yet, read of the real tragedies that are occuring over in IRAQ and DARFUR instead of quoting some crap just to look witty.

      to #43:

How about you get off your high and mighty horse and stop with your condescending BS….

Your pathetic attempt at trying to sound inspired, was a complete failure.

At the very least, you could have showed some respect. I'm guessing a little human decency is too much to ask of anymore…..

      53

Oh Puh-leese, Perez… you could care less about that "tragedy"!!!

I think it's great that it happened, as it will FINALLY bring attention to the fact that in the U.S., infastructure is IGNORED, and one day, everything will collapse. So those who died may be helping others… but PUH-LEESE, Perez… don't pretend like you care…

You're no different than the rest of us scum… we want to know about LINDSEY, BRITTNEY, PARIS, etc… Don't bore us with lectures of FAKE SYMPATHY for those "victims"… Puh-leese, Perez…

Does anyone really think you CARE about that???

Come on, can anyone be HONEST here about what we REALLY care about?

      What happened with Lindsey today?????

I am still in shock at this. I am currently two hours away at school, and when I am home I drive across that bridge every day. My dad takes it to and from work, and he could have easily been on it at that time. It really puts things into perspective. I am praying for the safety of my friends and for the victims in this horrible horrible incident.

actually, deaths are only at 7, thanks God! Thanks for your thoughts, I was actually there, and it's a total nightmare.

    57. PY says – reply to this

      57

      Sarah,

When you speak my language as well as I speak yours, I'll take your criticism seriously. If you were really witty, you'd know that according to the country, names are spelled in different ways.
Still, you are more than welcome to keep on feeling sorry for a bunch of people crashed under a bridge. How come you did not mention 9/11 ?
Keep on being a true american, it looks like it really suits you.

Such a sad thing. I live just under two hours away from there, and go over it every time we drive to my grandma's house. Had to double check my dad's e-mail just to be sure my family was okay. I am very thankful that they are, and my heart goes out to all those who lost a loved one in this terrible incident. You will be in my prayers.

    65. Ivory says – reply to this

      65

Thank you Perez. I am a student who lives at the University of Minnesota (this happened on our campus, which surrounds this bridge) and it has been a horrific evening and morning. Thankfully, however, this situation was not as bad as it could have been as only one lane (out of four) of traffic was open because of construction. I thank God that there were not four lanes of rush hour traffic open and that there were no city buses full of people (although there was a school bus-all children safe) on the bridge when this occured. Thanks again for your thoughts; it's nice to know that the rest of the country is thinking about us for more than the Mall of America.

    66. US Hater says – reply to this

      66

Just one more way God is punishing the US for being the most arrogant, pushy and asshole-filled nation on earth. Believe me, the rest of the world is not sad at all

    67. jimmy of thailand says – reply to this

      67

It's SOOOOooooo easy to just say, "oh, this is SOoooooo tragic…", and do nothing… but no one here understands the REAL issue, which is not taking care of infastructure… so it's no surprise that this happens… and should not be considered a "tragedy"… the REAL "tragedy" is that you people don't stand up, and insist your government take care of infastructure… you could be next.

BTW, anything going on with Lindsey today?

It will change the face of the cities, the 35W bridge was a major artery between Minneapolis and St. Paul - millions of people will be driving out of the way detours for years. Your thoughts and prayers for the families of the missing/injured/dead are appreciated.

The people of MPLS have only themselves and the people they put into office to blame as they pour money into the metrodome and target sport center and ignore the roads and highways. I know, I lived there. By the way , this wasnt an act of God..mr thailand. Your really stupid.

I think it's really sad that people have to argue and make petty comments ta post like this. Show some respect. Regardless of what you think of his sincerity or the severity of this incident, these were real people that died…real people with real families and you could easily be in the place of one of their loved ones right now. So think twice before you're completely insensitive.

Such a nightmare for the people involved, and the poor kids on the school bus. Makes me sad to think how scared they must have been, thank god the bus driver had it together enough to rush to the back door and get every child out, he is a true hero.

Yeah, it was very, very scary. It's the bridge I took every day when I was in college, so I'm still in a bit of disbelief about the whole thing. I was in St. Paul with my hubby when it happened…about seven miles away from everything…it all seemed like a scene from a movie…

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims and their families.
