Federline has been very smart (did we just say that?) in the way he has handled himself these last few months. Unlike out-of-control Britney, we rarely see Kevin partying and hitting the clubs. Plus, his "camp" seems to be pretty smart too.
Fed-Ex's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, just sat down with Us Weekly for an exclusive interview, and - though the divorce may be final - all is not finalized when it comes to Britney and Kevin, especially in relation to their two boo boos, Tater Tot and Small Fry.
Us: How does he feel about the current 50/50 shared custody agreement?
MVK: I think that Kevin would like to have as much custody as he could get because he feels that the children would benefit by that. I'm sure Britney wants more custody as well. I don't think anyone should draw any presumption or conclusion from the fact that the judgment was entered on Monday, that everything is fine with everybody as of Monday.Us: Is the question of custody still open?
MVK: The judgment could be filed but it might not relate to the current circumstances, it might relate to prior ones, and there's always an ability to at least apply to the court that you need to change in the interest of the kid.Us: What's Kevin like as a father?
MVK: I don't want to talk about the kids, but I can say that he is a hands-on dad and I think that he is a very focused parent who believes that any kids, but especially kids of this young age, need to have structure and consistency and that he has always provided that and wants to make sure that they get the benefit of that as much as possible.Us: Is he concerned about what happens when they are not under his care?
MVK: Well I can't say how he feels about it, but I can say that all of these things that come out [about Britney], if true, are things that would concern me. He is someone who has gone out of his way to protect his kids as much as possible. I don't recall ever seeing a picture of him with his kids in tow out in public because he feels that could subject them to an unnecessary risk and doesn't benefit them. His desire is that these kids
have a chance to grow up free, in as normal an environment as possible. He's somebody that never has tried to boost his appearance in public through his children.

You know, I was also one of them who thought that he was just scum a year ago. He went out partying and was never there, but lets look at the facts for right this second. Britney goes out partying, she is constantly going off the deep end, and all in all, is not a stable person to be giving these kids a normal, stable childhood. Now Kevin…I don't really know. Whether it is an act or not, not one of us can say. We don't know him, but I want to beleive that he has finally grown up. I am hoping he gets full custody. Those kids need some stability. If he can't give that to them, I hope that they will be taken away from both of them. Even if Kevin shouldn't have them, Britney is still worse for them than he is.

Whatever about Kevin Federline and how he behaved during their marriage, it is certainly true that he is NEVER seen out with those children - in stark contrast to his ex-wife's behaviour. Britney doesn't even have a home at the moment, if reports are to be believed. If she is living in a hotel, how can this be beneficial to the children? Taking them to Vegas? Taking them on boat trips? Come on! Children of this age need stability and a regular schedule. If she was a regular non-famous mother of two, Kevin would have been given full custody by now.
When I first heard Britney Spears talking a few years ago about how she was totally 'ready to be a mom', I foresaw disaster…now I see I was right. She needs to understand that children are not playthings that you can hand back to your minder when they start crying. This guy, who rode on the coat tails of someone who was bigger than him, should have remained in the shawdows. If it wasn't for Brittney, Kevin would have remained as another unknown stastitic. It's a sin and a shame for Kevin to use someone to get where he is. Now, that is not being a real man at all…shame on you Kevin!
