The man that died at the home of actor Ving Rhames may have died of a heart attack!

None of the wounds - on his face and neck only - appear to have been life threatening, law enforcement officials reveal.

    But the dog attacks are almost certain what instigated the heart attack, i.e., he would not had a heart attack in the first place had the dogs not attacked him. As a result, Rhames would still be liable.

    Perez, you should educate yourself on some basic issues that go beyond your stupid celebrity shit.

    he probably had the heart attack and fell to the ground and the dogs thought he was playing…..when anyone gets on the ground our dog thinks it's play time…..and huge mastiffs play rough….the injuries probably came after the heart attack…..such a sad situation all the way around

    Obviously the dogs are what probably casued the heart attack as th man may have been scared/stunned but what Perez said was that the "wounds" from the dogs were not life threatning.

    i thought the pics were comic relief, and good, expose people who keep dangerous dogs for street cred. that article in which the reporter felt threatened shows that VR was being irresponsible. sorry, but my cesar-milan-trained baby would not bite a corpse nor a man having a heart attack. something wasn't right with these pooches. keeping dogs viscious is cruel to the dogs and to the staff!

    I understand loving animals, I have dogs myself. But to jump to the conclusion that they were probably were just trying to "help" the man is STUPID. He had serious injuries from the dog attack. He most likely got away but suffered from a heart attack due to the stress of the attack. Is what the detectives are saying on the news. Don't be such asshats! Animals are animals.. No matter how trained they are there is the possibility of them lashing out. Inbreeding, unknown past abuse… Whatever the reason.

    Heart attacks kill, and are brought on by fear. Those dogs are loud and intimidating, which is part of their process as preditors. IF he died from a heart attack, it was still because of the dogs.

    Some sad truths about dog attacks -

    #1 - Do NOT try to "protect" yourself. The animal will bite you anywhere it can get its mouth around.

    #2 - If a dog is charging you - KICK it in the throat.

    #3 - If a dog is too close to kick, place both hands FIRMLY around its throat. Squeeze until it (A) stops attacking (B) stops breathing.

    Ugly - I know. I hope to never have to do any such thing. Knowing, however, is half the battle.

    Why did this blog get turned into an issue of race? People are just giving their thoughts on the subject. Black people have to stop playing the race card. It does them such a disservice. I was so happy the Russell Simmons & Big Al spoke out against Vick. Back to the Rhames matter, this happened on his property & the person who was killed was his caretaker. Dogs really bond with people who feed them, that is all they really care about & this guy was probably the one who did it everyday for the last couple years. That is what makes this so weird. The bites might not have killed him but they could have caused him to go into shock & have a heart attack. He was able to get through a gate & close it to be separated from the dogs. Neighbors said the dogs were friendly. The news said the neighbors had dogs & in my opinion these dogs could have aggrivated Rhames dogs and there is something called transferred aggresson. You can't really generalize on dog breeds but 3 of the 4 dogs were mastiffs which require a lot of discipline, exercise & structure because of their size & strength. Is Rhames to blame for the attack? The only way I would fault him is if he wasn't making sure 4 big dogs living together had sufficient leadership i.e. - structure with walks, feedings, discipline & of course a lot of human contact to keap the dogs calm and well socialzed. If he used the dogs strictly as guard dogs then shame on him because this is the scary type of stuff that can happen when you own a powerful dog (or in his case dogs) & you don't properly raise & train them. For now, let's give him the benefit of the doubt. This is a tragic situation & I feel bad for those poor dogs at the oound in danger of being killed themselves. Legally dog bites are matters of strict liability, presumed negligence, in CA. It is going to be hard for Vick to fight a legal battle no matter what the circumstances if someone files a lawsuit on his caretakers behalf. Let's say a prayer for everyone involved, including the 4 dogs. Dogs are animals and sometimes people forget that which is why people are sometimes to blame for tragic events like this.

    You'd have a heart attack too if you tought you were going to be dog food while still alive. A dog is still a dog even if it is pet and they have their moments of crazy just like everyone else. Even playing can get out of hand. I had a rott that loved me best out of everyone in the family but it would go nuts every now and dthen and not "recognize" me. If it attacks at that moment then your SOL. I finally had to give her up since she was so difficult to control (even after training) The trainer said she had a genetic aggressive disposition.

    Most dogs, will nip and bite at someone if they are unconsious (spelling). Dogs do not attack for no reason, especially dogs that have been cared for and trained as these dogs have been, they probally looked at the caretaker as their owner, and when he had his heart attack tried to "wake" him by nipping and biting at him.

    #69 is right. Dogs will nip and bite at a member of the pack if for some reason it goes unconscious. I think the poor man had a heart attac and the dogs were trying to revive him.

    In an episode of The Dog this happened to one of thier puppies. It went unconscious from lickiing a deadly frog and it went unconscous. The rest of the dogs nipped and bit it. It saved the puppies life! The jolt of adrenalin from being nipped or bit can restart the heart. Plus, the behavior was immediately noticed and the family was able to get the puppy to the vet immediately.
