We're Devastated
The one weekend out of the year that we're in her hometown of Chicago, and she's not here!
Sigh.
Oprah Winfrey is in a small town in Canada, and lucky PerezHilton.com reader Zoe got the opportunity to meet her on Friday.
Here's what she has to share:
"Dear Perez,
Yesterday was probably the biggest thing to happen in the history of the small town I live in… EVER! I was born and raised in Alert Bay BC up here in Canada in a small fishing village (population 1400). We don't get a lot of excitement here, so when I noticed this giant yacht parked at the local dock, I knew it was someone important. Sure enough, the town was buzzing with word that OPRAH WINFREY was here! I couldn't believe it! My sister and I were really excited. We heard through local chatter where she was and decided to walk in that direction. Apparently she had already checked out our local cultural centre (half the population here is native). As my sister and I were walking and chatting about how cool that was, I realized that Oprah was in the group of 3 people walking in our direction. It was just her, an older gentleman and another lady. No security or body guards or anything like that. As we were passing her, a car of women stopped and Oprah graciously signed their Oprah magazines and took pictures with them. Word around town is that she was incredibly nice to everyone and signed a lot of autographs and took pictures with lots of people. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know our tiny little island was fortunate to have THE Oprah Winfrey on it for a few hours."

Yes it was very cool to see Oprah in our little town of Alert Bay, i didn't get to meet her or get her autograph but i was able to see her close up, She came into our Big House while a Potlatch was happening. She did a traditional dace and was given a name from our culture which means Wise Woman. She made a speach, took pictures with people and signed autographs.
The 'older gentleman' is the one who owns the yacht.
Well Oprah obviously has great taste and smarts. When is beloved Perez going to come up and check out our beautiful Vancouver Island? You have no idea what you are missing. provided you could handle leaving the Cities and if your lungs can handle smog-free air. Leave behind your fairy-tale world and come on up and get a dose of REALITY. Yeh I'm DARING you, Perez! I don't think you could handle it! I can show you places that you never knew were possible.

Heyyy She has a place in Qualicum Beach? I live there and I didn't know about that. Next to Diana Krawl(?) and Pam Anderson being from the area, the only other celeb news is that the SS Minnow (Gilligan's Is) is parked at French Creek Marina. For sale apparently it needs some work hehehehe

It was NOT Oprah,she has sooo much money that she has people that look like her to POSE as her…if it was her,she would have had security all over walking around town…Seeee what MONEY can buy,you were all SUCKED in cause of her Oprah impersonator,Look at alll the Impersonators all around the world… anyone can do it,i bet you yourself may think you look like a certain celebrity,You all got autographs & pictures taken with a Jane Doe,did you know") I like Oprah,but it wasn't her…Jim Pattison & the look alike were prolly laffing there ass's off,when they left the lil rez,cause he is a hater towards injun people,Trust me Alert Bay would be the last place he would take the real Oprah,it was all a hoax to all the people in Alert Bay…He is raciest….I GOT WORD & he foooooled you all!!! I met him in 98 & you should here what he says about all the people who live on Reservations infact its DISGUSTING!! he wouldn't give none of you the time of day!!!& thats the truth!!!
She was at Telegraph COve also, my niece wrote out Steadmans fishing licence. Way to go Oprah and Steadman. She said the place was absolutely beautiful!!!!
FYI-Well I know the picture are real. I know the ppl in them personally. They would not do that. In alert bay it only suns in the summer. It was still cold and snowing every once in a while in March.
SHe visited all our tourist atractions. We have the biggest Native totem pole in BC. I think it is the tallest int he world. We have an awesome collection of Native artifacts. Our people here are nice awesome and inviting ppl. I find it a shocker that she enjoyed her visit. THere was a potlatch going on at the time. She walked in did a dance with us. SHe recieved an indian name. Signed autographs and took pictures with many ppl. We are all blessed to be int he presence of such a wonderful lady. I can't beleive people can call someone down that is trying to make a difference in this world. Need to check yourself what have U done remotely close to what she has done. I totally disagree with allt eh bad talk that is going on about her on this site. It is sick that ppl have enough time and energy to waste hating other. Advice: Life is to short. Every minute you waste hating others is a minute you will never get back. U can leave this earth anytime. U don't want to use it up on stupid petty things like hating others.

And as far as the wrong dates on the pictures go, The woman who own's the camera had it all cleared up with the Media who used those pictures. She was interviewed by Global News in Victoria and even Jim Pattison was talking on the news about his trip with Oprah to Alert Bay so check it out if you want more proof that this actually happened. There are also allot of other people who took pictures of Oprah here in Alert Bay. It wasnt a "HOAX" There is also video footage of this happening.

she does not have a place here yet she has a friend who has a boat or what not out here she has gone to the kingfisher spa not to far from where i live in Courtenay but she is looking for a place out here maybe on salt spring or close to it
If Oprah were to visit Vancouver, BC, Canada next - she would never want to leave. Everyone that visits here ends up buying property here. Vancouver is the most beautiful city in the world! WE ARE WAY TOO BLESSED IN CANADA!
