OH WELL, LIKE THEY DON'T GET ENOUGH MONEY AS IT IS, BUT THE LAW IS THE LAW. IF MY VID WAS UP I WOULD WANT MY CUT TOO. THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN VIDEO'S CAME OUT. THE ACTORS WERE NOT GETTING PAID FOR ANY OF IT. NOW IT'S ALL CHANGED.

I scraped my tray for the Last Bowl.
I pulled out some funky wierd stick or stems.
      Packed it and Smoked it.
But the taste- What was that taste.
      Bad. Very Bad.
I looked thru the charred remains of my Last Bowl.
Then it flashed to me - I killed a large spider last night.
Very big bitch. Spider parts everywhere.
      I smoked a spider leg.
      On accident.
      Watch what you pack.

why does this suck? as said by java, intellectual property rights are real. i think you all suck for not wanting to spend a whole $13 for an album.

    19. rarrrrrrr says – reply to this

      19

they are only doing this because they are freaking desperate for $$$ since the record labels are prehistoric beasts who refuse to update with technology, hence are falling apart. watching a video on youtube is like watching a music video on mtv to kids today. intellectual property rights or not, what kind of money is youtube really making from a music video. someone clicking on a ad on the page? come on. if anything, the band is getting more recognition there. maybe they should partner with (instead of attack) youtube, and have them pay net rate royalties for views or something. the internet is the way of the future, when will they get it? have you also heard that a few labels are going into large bars/clubs and demanding that owners pay them royalties for having a dj play their artists! check it out! it's pathetic. record labels are RUINING music. they are all about the business side, when they should be focusing on the ART itself. that's why the industry is saturated with shit, and i refuse to turn on my fucking radio…

TIME TO TAKE OUR FREEDOM BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    21. Moppelchen says – reply to this

      21

      @#18: you prick!
a clip on youtube is hardly a substitue for real music.
i buy tons of original albums, yet i dont wanna miss youtube. to me it is more like a promotion platform where i can find new stuff. like the new sort of radio.

    25. CSG says – reply to this

      25

If someone drove your car without your permission, you would be pissed. That’s your property! A song is no less the creator's property than their car - it's called intellectual property. You need the songwriter’s permission to “drive it.” It’s that simple.

And for those who think this is all about big companies fighting the little guy - understand this: The songwriter is actually the little guy here and the big company is "Youtube." The publisher’s are leading the battle in defense of the little guys like me that don’t have the resources to take on this behemoth.

If you spent your life dedicated to the craft of making music, you would understand this fight differently.

This is bullshit. Viacom is paid through advertising (at outrageous rates), and don't get me started on the price of a cd.. Since when is it a crime to share already published information??

people need to stop trying to cash in on other peoples profit. and it sickens me that once a website has earned so much credibiltyand help most of these artists and record companies become recognizable, which most artists' now can thank myspace and youtube. It's sick, dont they have enough money already. This free interent war will never stop, you crack down the big dog, and there will always be another site waiting for that oppurtunity to take that spot. So now what do you do? spend more millions hire bigger and better lawyers and waste more moeny. You just as guilty.

      in response to #27

wtf are you talking about you idiot? For one, most of these song writers are ssell outs. GIving 100% of their writing credits to these artists who have all the money. You work your whole life writing music, and you would sell alkl your credits for a few million. Or even what perez hs posted, about some song writer, artists will come in and change (1) word of the song, and than they take claims toit. Stick up for yourself idiot.

So what do you do? sell your song and hand over all your fuckin credits, and who takes all your credits? famous singers who seek attention to annouce to the world their talent in writing music. they steal your credits? so why the fuck arent you sueing???If you want to talk about owning righs, stand up to those artists who are buying your song to take credit for it.changing one word around and they own all your rights? its not our fault or youtubes. SOngwriters sell their songs and lose all there credits. So fuck that! your fuckin' lame.

i agree with her. No one hears a song and goes " oMG who wrote this, i have to have the first and last name of the person who wrote this, so i can put them on my top 8 on myspace." no morons!!if it wasnt for youtube, you woudlnt even be acknowledged for the song that "we" are supposively stealing.

    31. cplusg says – reply to this

      31

First of all, no one really cares who writes a song. Second of all, You Tube is free promotion. I don't get it. They are so greedy.

sucks? for who? YouTube? Nope, don't think so.

It sucks for songwriters and other creatives who try to MAKE A LIVING by writing songs and composing.

It's sooooo ignorant to think that YouTube shouldn't pay royalties just like tv, film, radio, etc.

      37

Artists can be free to post their songs/videos on youtube if they want the promotion, but youtube shouldn't be able to steal copyrighted material and make money off of it through advertising……. you know, kind of like perez steals copyrighted pictures and makes money off them……..

You know…half of these musicians would never see a penny if it weren't for the power of youtube and its ability to quickly spread the word about obscure artists…of course, I'm sure it's the bigger artists that are doing all the complaining.
