I think Obama will bring a great change in this country- whether he win the presidency, or as being a Vice President. (Look at what a puppetmaster Dick Cheney has been during Bush's administration!) Even in a 2nd tier position like that, he could bring a lot of good.
As far as him being a Christian… I know that he attends the Trinity United Church of Christ, which openly supports gay marriage. He himself does not, but I believe that he is in favor of civil unions at least. It's not 100% freedom to "marry" which I know is what the gay community is hoping for, but it's something that's at least acheivable at this point, and something his administration would more than likely be able to make happen, and soon.
I'm betting my money that we'll see a Clinton/Obama ticket come 2998, but we'll see. I could be wrong…

Too bad the ad leaves out that he is an elitist who was also a practicing Muslim growing up in the Philippines. Plus, his father was just here to study at University, and wasn't truly here to make a life for himself (which is why he went back to Africa after he left Barack's mother). He admitted his personal beliefs would guide him as president, I just have to wonder would those be his Muslim beliefs or "Christian" beliefs?
If anyone as actually paid any attention to his campaign, he does not oppose gay marriage at all. He simply holds the view that the government cannot force religious institutions to perform gay marriages that that was "up to the denomination." Separation of Church and State, as it always has been. But if you watch the Democratic Debates that were held at the Citadel in Charleston this past July, you will hear him say verbatim that he supports gay rights to marriage under the state and as far as hospital visits, insurance, and any other rights that a straight couple would have. Realistically, we will not get to a place where the government can interfere with the practices religious institutions. But Obama is as supportive of gay unions as any other candidate.

I am supprised that you like this guy so much. He is about the least gay friendly candidate there is among the front runners. He gives the same old tired line about gay marriage that Hillary and Edwards do, but at least Hillary has experience dealing one on one with the gay community, and Edwards seems really sincere on his conflict about the whole issue (and his wife…who rocks…supports gay marriage). Obama seems like his stance comes from the fact that he has to have this line to appease the primary voters….than he can turn his back or forget about the gay community.
