Well, the power of Disney, really. But Zac is the one getting all the little girls (and boys) giggly and gooey.

Disney's High School Musical 2 premieres on the Disney Channel this weekend, and all signs point to it being a massive success.

The first indicator? The soundtrack, which was released yesterday, is already FLYING off the shelves.

It's going to have one of the best debuts of the year!

The High School Musical 2 soundtrack will easily top the U.S. album charts next week and Hits Daily Double is predicting it will sell between 550,000 to 600,000 copies.

That's kinda insane.

P.S. Zac is totally owning the Beyonce pose lately!

      The Mouse's publicity machine has been firing with all guns blazing for the last fw weeks - when you realize that the HSM franchise has generated over ONE BILLION dollars of revenue for Disney, it's no wonder that Efron is seemingly EVERYWHERE these days.

      I have no interest in the older or the new film (or the music), so my own interest is in seeing whether Efron and his handlers can take the tween adoration and build a sustainable career for him. I've only seen him in 'Hairspray' andI hough that he acquitted himself well on that movie - his part was a second-tier supporting role, and he made the most of his opportunities (he has a decent, serviceable voice, from what one can tell on the overamplified movie theater sound system). His screen presence was very good, although whether he has any serious acting chops remains to be seen.

      As far as his looks, I've always been confused by the attraction that tweens/teens have for androgynous young men (all the way back to the David Cassidy/Bobby Sheran days). Efron's face has an interesting bone structure, one that is captured differently depending on the angle of the camera's perspective. He definitely benefits by having his hair up and out of his eyes (as seen in the Vanity Fair B&W photo that Perez posted a while back). Shorter, darker hair de-emphasized the rounded, cherub aspects of his face, something that is absolutely essential if he is to progress into young adult roles . He also is blessed with a good body structure that will benefit from the weight training he is undertaking (as seen in various magazine photos) but he needs to stay away from creatine or other so-called supplements.
