Out Of Control At Ozzfest
Two men died Thursday night at an Ozzfest concert at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.
Raymond Guarino, 26, and Patrick Norris, 24, were believed to have taken a lethal cocktail of cocaine, marijuana and alcohol prior to their deaths. Troopers who searched Guarino's vehicle found small amounts of both drugs.
In addition to the two deaths, 83 people were arrested at the Ozzfest show; 59 were charged with underage drinking. Other charges included distribution of drugs, lewd behavior and providing alcohol to a minor.
To try and curb these unfortunate incidents from happening again, authorities are banning alcohol in the parking lot of the central New Jersey entertainment venue.

Anyway, why do people bother to get so fucked up at concerts? Seems like a waste of a ticket if you're just going to get stoned and end up forgetting everything that happened.
That's so incredibly unfortunate especially since Ozzfest was FREE this year, so that young people(who may not be able to afford the otherwise steep tickets) could enjoy upcoming and established awesome rock bands. I hope they won't cancel future Ozzfests, as I have enjoyed many myself.

K.. this is actually as bad as what happened down here in No where Southern Illinois. ICP just had the Gathering here. The arrest/citations were twice that and it was a three day outside gathering. I went to the Incubus concert on the 10th at PNC. People from the lawn where throwing chairs into the section seating. It's same, your wasting your money to just be in trouble. Grow up.
What they don't tell you in that article is that despite banning alcohol in the parking lot, the PNC arts center continues to sell alcohol inside the premises. Major problems have been occuring for years, not just this single season, with both under age drinking and DUIs. Despite these massive infractions and these recent deaths, the arts center has somehow mysteriously not lost their liquor permit.
this sucks I am going to concert there on wed. I was planning on bringing alchol, weed, and coke. but now because two dudes who im guessing were either doing crystal meth or herion died. I will have to rent a van now and do it in the van instead of outside in the lot. it is highly unlikely that it was the that coke killed them by itself. unless one of them dared the other to do an 8 ball in one line and then the other not to get out done by his friend did an eightball in one line as well. this seems more like an ozzfest story.

The alcohol consumption is ridiculous when you go to a show at PNC. I really don't understand why these underage kids have to consume so much to be completely obliterated! Why can't you just enjoy the show being sober?

i was at this concert and there was nothing going on there that doesn't go on at every concert. People tailgated, drank and had fun. I definitely did not see that many people out of control.

As someone who has been to four Ozzfest shows throughout the years I have to say that this is saddening. I believe that everyone knows that drinking and drug use goes on within the walls of the concert venues during Ozzfest, despite their efforts to prevent such, but the ignorance of some people is astounding…mixing drugs in lethal doses…come on people enough already! I remember one year a man went down in the moshpit and the band that was on stage stopped in the middle of their performance and said if the people around him didn't pick him up they would walk off the stage…that is the kind of behavior that should be encouraged…someone should have told these two men to stop. Sad really.
I mean, they are ALWAYS arresting people at PNC! I've been going to concerts there for years and it's terrible that these two have died, but they've ruined it for the rest of us! PNC is probably one of the best places to attend a concert, and the pre-gaming there was a big part of the fun. NJ state troopers are WAY too strict, they need to relax. I'm so pissed off about this!

It's really ridiculous what is going on at PNC. It is one of the best places to see a concert, have a few beers and enjoy tailgating then a great show. The only reason that many people got arrested was because there are more officers patrolling looking for underage drinkers and they arrested people for moshing. They should arrest kids for underage drinking. The amount of officers have only recently gone up, soon PNC patrons will realize that you can't drink underage there, to take away all tailgating for everyone, including the majority of people who are just hanging out, are of age, and having a good time is wrong. It's not PNC's fault that 2 people died, it's their own fault that they decided to take drugs and then died because of it, if it wasn't at PNC it would have happened at the rest stop on the parkway, should that place then close down? And by the way, it's not just NJ and NY that have this problem, for some reason the politics around here are just becoming more conservative which is getting extremely annoying.

Multiple people have gotten arrested at PNC at basically every concert all summer long. Most of them underaged and tailgaiting in the parking lots. Back in May a bunch of 13 year olds and one 11 year old got taken to the hospital for alcohol poisining. I feel badly for the two that died and their families but honestly the rest of these assholes and the absentee parents of the underaged kids ruined PNC for those of us who have always been responsible and just enjoyed it as an awesome concert venue with a great tailgaiting scene.
I live right near the arts center and i have a friend that works security there. they are always arresting people. On the way to the arts center, on the parkway, the message bulletins say that alcohol is banned in the parking lot. do you think that people really give a shit? NO! They bring it any way. Why follow the rules? I think that if you are going to a concert and you wanna get drunk, get drunk inside. That way, they check your id and they give your a wrist band and can turn you down if you are too drunk. These people have to get drunk before a concert? WHY? Aren't you gonna be driving home? Don't you care that you can kill someone on your way home on the parkway? They showed on the news the people that were drinking in the parking lot. They just put their beer or whatever they were drinking into cups and cops didn't bother them. One lady had her beer in an arizona iced tea bottle. Is it that important to drink before a concert that you gotta sneak it in and drink it from another bottle? The problem is, the cops will never get a control on it because they will never go through each car as soon as they come into the parking lot. Tailgating is a big thing. In my opinion I think it's stupid to get drunk before a concert and then go inside and get more drunk, be barely able to walk, and then drive home.

its been building up to this all season.. i live where pnc is and its been going downhill every since 11 year olds had to get their stomachs pumped at the gwen stefani concert in may. kids get arrested every concert now, i dont know why they dont realize pnc isnt hte haven it once was. its not safe at all to drink anymore and its just getting out of control with how young the kids are who are drinking. terrible about those two deaths though

Yep, I plan to attend many Bruce Springsteen shows this fall/winter and out of all of the other concerts I have even been to I've never seen anyone hurt.
The KTU Beatstock concert is happening tonight at 4:30.. Right now my friend is in the parking lot with a bunch of people tailgating. She said there are a TON of state troopers circling the parking lot & giving out $500 citations for drinking alcohol. Everyone is still drinking & hiding alchol in their cars & as the state troopers walk by 3 at a time, they hide the cups. Surprisingly they didnt check the cars for alcohol as they pull in the parking lot.

I was at the PNC Ozzfest, Its really sad and unfortunate what happened, the funny things is, when people were going into the actual concert, the guards weren't checking Purses and backpacks, there only concern was sniffing water bottles.
i worked security for warped tour last week… and got asked again to work ozzfest on monday… kinda glad i said i couldnt. yeesh. i'm 5'1" 90lbs… it's probably more likely i'd be the one to get killed by a stampede or something lol

It's not like this is anything new. Drugs & alcohol are staples at basically any concert I've ever been to. It's just the way things are- it may not be beneficial to those attending, but a little weed never did any harm. It's simply when idiots decide to mix their own toxic cocktail that it gets reported and causes an uproar.
