Fidel Castro is not seen as a villain to many educated world citizens. As a Cuban-American from Miami, you have never seen the progress that Cuba has made under the rule of Castro. It is true that it is not prefect they have very limited freedom. But let's be honest American's under the patriot act and with current media ownership laws have limited freedoms as well. At least in Cuba they are up front about their civil liberties being violated.
Cuban's at least have free health care. And according to my Uncle in Cuba, he is willing to have a dictator as long as he doesn't have to pay for medical care. We have a dictator and no one from the government is paying for my bills.
