wow. i wonder if this will change anything. he certainly was a powerful and charismatic man, regardless of any flaws… can't imagine his brother has as much strength, though maybe all of castro's stuff in place is strong enough to survive much after his death. i always assumed that the u.s.'s hatred for the man and his policies was some sort of irrational cold war craziness, but over the years, through many conversations with defectors and/or their children, i understand the widespread hatred of this man and know that many will celebrate. i am not very educated on his bad acts, however, outside of watching FREDA, and feel more educated about the noble idea behind it all- that all men should be equal and have access to the same things. too bad it will never be possible to accomplish such a thing because people aren't equal and people are greedy. anyhow, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out and if anything changes. i agree with perez though, be careful cubans and people in miami… don't get reckless in the celebration.

Nothing unusual has been reported from Havana. However, Miami is ablaze with rumors, NBC News reported.

On Thursday, Cuba's foreign minister said rumors about Fidel Castro's deteriorating health are untrue.

Felipe Perez Roque made the comments to reporters while attending the Forum for East Asia-Latin American Cooperation in Brazil.

Cubans were hoping Fidel would make a public appearance during his birthday celebrations nearly two weeks ago.

When asked if the 81-year-old Castro was still in charge of Cuban affairs, Roque said, "He is being informed and consulted constantly."

Is Fidel Castro dead? There has been a ton of speculation on the Communist dictator's demise since it was reported that his health took a turn for the worse after his 81st birthday on August 13th. The Fidel deathwatch is on. Much of the speculation is coming from celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.

On his website he has this: Sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com that U.S. officials will be holding a press conference shortly to announce the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. South Florida police organizations are calling in reinforcements before the announcement is made, we're told."

There has been no official report but denials are already out. According to "The Age" the communist leader has not appeared in public for more than a year, but he has appeared in photographs and eight videos. The last video was shown June 5. He continues "in process of recovery", Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque said.

"In particular, he keeps in constant touch with the leaders of Cuba's (Communist) Party and government," he added. Asked if Castro was still in charge of Cuban affairs, Roque said: "Exactly, he is being informed and consulted constantly and works all the time."

The plot almost failed. A few people in 1981 heard of Castro's death, and began a rumor that he had died of syphilis, but the CIA quickly made those people, some of them Americans, Disappear. They needed the world to think that Castro was still alive. They didn't want you to know, but thanks to THE UNCOVEROR, now you do.
