In Miami watching the news now. All the stations have reported the rumor as a rumor, but none other then NBC6 have compleely disregarded this news. Cuban AM radio has been discussing this all afternoon, even before Perez posted his news. People are in Calle Ocho now in front of cafeteria's with flags already. Fox here said that they have their entire newsroom devoted to the story and are working with CNN and Fox News to bring the latest. No one has confirmed this yet, but there has not been an official denial either.

I'm in Downtown Miami, working in a office that works closely with government officials, and I can confirm that Perez is not “starting rumors.” He, like everyone else in Miami, is anticipating the release. I happen to know that fire dept. was called to a special meeting this morning. Though the confirmation of his death might not be announced today, a statement concerning the suspicion has to be, and will be, made. I do not wish death upon anyone. But what this means to Cuban Americans is inexplicable. If it is confirmed, I will be in South Beach tonight drinking tons of mojitos, celebrating that in my lifetime I may have the pleasure of visiting the beautiful island of Cuba. A government under different leadership may mean a government with better relations with the U.S. Though democracy may be years away, reasonably hopes if hours away.

So far the news stations in Miami have only mentioned the "rumors" that have been reported on Castros death. No solid "yes" or "no." The news stations made it clear that they do not know if hes dead or not. Helicopters are already in the Calle Ocho area circiling Versailles. And Illena Ros-Leichtnen(sp?) is also at Versailles. It seems like this might just be a little more then just a rumor.
