Rob Zombie's adaptation of the horror film classic Halloween opened big on Friday.

The film took in $10.9 million and is expected to make about $30 mill this holiday weekend.

Not bad, considering the movie got craptacular reviews!

      32

Actually, the film is getting decent reviews, for a horror movie anyway. I'm sure there were some bad reviews, but all movies have bad reviews. The review I read in the paper gave it 3 out of 4 stars. I didn't LOVE this movie and I'm not defending it, but Perez should really check to see if what he is going to say is indeed accurate.

      34

It was a BAD movie. Rob Zombie's other movies were okay for what they were. I actually liked Devil's Rejects a lot. But he really missed the mark with Halloween. And by now I think we all know that Rob Zombie's wife is tall, blonde, has a flat ass and an even flatter chest, and that she can't act for shit. Has he figured that out yet? Apparently not.

    36. Don't drink the haterade bitches says – reply to this

      36

Rob Zombie is extremely talented and knows how to scare the shit out of an audience. That's why he was tapped to recreate Halloween with a new perspective. I'm going to see it tonight and can't wait! They asked him on the radio why it was coming out so early and he explained…if it came out at Halloween, who would go to see it 2 weeks later? Good answer.

      43

I literally just came home from seeing it. Horrible and I LOVE these kinds of movies. Rob Zombie tried to turn this suspenseful type movie into one of his grungy, soft core porn gross out movies. It got a little better in the middle, but Zombie tried to appeal mostly to his gross-out audience and not to appeal to a wider audience, particularly those of us who are fans of the Halloween movies.

      45

The film would get bad reviews because it is a great inside look at how parents and bullies cause the monsters we have today. People don't want to see that it is them causing our children to fail and become these murderous monsters. A great picture with a great reflection on mistreatment and abused children in our society and the results thereof

I've watched alll the Halloween's after because I am a true fan but Halloween I & maybe II were the only good ones. I can't wait to see this one. If your not a "Halloween" fan you won't like it. I will never understand why they opened this movie this weekend. If they were smart they would have done it during the week of Halloween - Even non-fans would have went for the "spirit" of season….idiot movie studio execs…..

The original is my favorite movie of all time. I'm sure John Carpenter is hanging his head in shame because of what Rob Zombie did to such a classic. Talk about mindless violence and gore for absolutely no reason. Why did he give little Michael a back story? The point of the whole movie franchise is that Michael is evil just for the sake of being evil. Giving him the whole "oh, he had a bad childhood" doesn't separate him from any other mass murderer out there. The movie was just awful.

      55

This movie SUCKED!! Rob Zombie reduces Michael Myers to white trash. Halloween relied on suspense and tension and this movie provides neither. Michael is also suppose to be scary because he comes from a "normal" home and just snaps; he is not this redneck in the movie. Zombie showed no respect to the original. NONE! Halloween has been reduced to a blood spattered mess with a mostly inadequate cast.

      65

The original Halloween is the greatest movie of all time. Rob Zombie RUINED this. Michael Meyers didn't need a back story, especially one that made the family white trash. If he wanted to ruin a classic, he could have at least tried to get decent actors. There was not one part of this movie that was enjoyable…and I love for horror movies. If they would have just called it Halloween 9…maybe, but this is awful as a remake/retell a little different, of the original.

      71

this movie was FANTASTIC. Rob Zombie is one of the best horror movie directors out right now. You can tell hes a true horror fan b/c he stayed true to the first story. All he did was add his on touches on the beginning , to show the origin of Michael Myers. The first half is so disturbing, it was my favorite part. The second half was almost word for word the first one. The scene where the cheerleader gets killed was the exact scene that was in the first one. The movie in general has that old school horror feel to it that all the other new horror films are lacking.

he needs to study the Hitchcock films

      building fear without cheap gross

I saw it… not that great. If you have never seen the first movie, then yes, you might like it some.. but I think Rob tried to replace the shittiness with tons of cussing and nudity (which wasn't too bad).

I just saw it. And it a great Rob Zombie take on a classic. On rottentomatoes sometimes peoples take a shit on a movie because they feel that what the "real" critic would do. Off cource the version I saw may not be what in theater now. Let just say that if the workprint version was tone down for theater you would love the unrated DVD when they release it.

      purists will hate it.

This movie was zombies OWN VERSION of Halloween. He didnt want to do a classic remake. The movie was done in his style. He's into gore. Therefore it was gory. very simple folks.

Carpenter said to 'make it his own', he also gave zombie his blessing to go for it.

I have seen the originals. I like the first and I like this one. I didnt go in thinking it would be a very close match to the first. I like Zombie's style to begin with, so I was expecting his kind of movie.

It's better than the remakes that Hollywood's been shitting out for the past several years.

I also never listen to critics. They're never accurate when concerning my tastes. Plus I like to make up my own mind.
