Carrie Underwood's new single, So Small, debuted huge on the Soundscan singles chart in the U.S. this week - coming in at #6.

Carrie's radio friendly single will likely top Britney's good but not great Gimme More for weeks to come.

Soulja Boy's Crank That knocked Kanye West out of the top spot. His Stronger is currently at #2. That's still leading 50 Cent's Ayo Technology, which is all the way at #15.

Nickelback (ughh) continues to do well, jumping up to #3 with Rockstar.

Rihanna's Shut Up And Drive barely missed the Top Ten, coming in at #11 this week.

And, most interesting, Pink's Who Knew climbed six spots from 25 to #19 this week.

That's pretty amazing, considering that Who Knew was originally released A YEAR ago! Sometimes radio takes a while to warm up to an album and Pink's latest is amazing. It's definitely proven to have legs!

      Ok, Rockstar is catchy but the lyrics are lame. I thought Nickelback were really cool, especially circa 2002, but with this song they just sound run of the mill and 80s band wannabes singing about blond groupies and drugs galore. Boooring. And soooo 80s. You know it's true. Does anyone know if Who Knew is about Pink's husband? Are they having problemas or something? She's very underrated this time around. She actually sings well and has good quality songs that you don't easily tire of, unlike Rihanna, Carrie, Britney, et al.

I've played classical piano since kindergarten, played the ever-nerdy flute since fifth grade, and have been in a death metal band on the keyboards, so I have a broad musical background and can tell you as a "professional" that Nickelback BITES THE BIG ONE! They "pay for play" like most other crappy music clogging the radio waves that no one really likes who has half a mind of their own, or listens to any part of the song other than the lyrics.

      So it was obviously not a dissapointment that Britney's "Gimme More" did not chart this week.. The single, which is pretty new, is only available through the radio, which now a days, counts for nothing on the BIllboard Hot 100. Even though the song was just relased a few days ago it had spins of 690 for the week. If the song were to be available next week as a download, Im sure it would debut on top 5. We'll just have to wait and see. And Carrie Underwood, she's just fine.
