We are filled with emotion today. Good songs and great albums can still be made and get out there to the public without having to be a part of the corporate machine.
After we posted this entry yesterday on the brilliant Eric Hutchinson, his new album - Sounds Like This - not only jumped out of nowhere onto the iTunes chart but it raced up all the way to #9. Number nine! All this without being on a freakin' label!!!!!!!
That's INSANE!
Guess you guys agreed with us, Eric Hutchinson is awesome.
And, one of our other favorites, the fucking phenomenal Meiko is doing well too!!!!
We featured her exquisite tunes in this post back in July.
Meiko's self-financed and SELF-RELEASED album is currently at #85 on the iTunes chart!!!
We are just soooo incredibly happy that you guys value Perez's opinion when it comes to music. And, more importantly, we are thrilled that we can help some truly deserving artists get a little bit of recognition.

Contrary to the above (#102) — Meiko is NOT signed, nor has she EVER been signed, to Blue Note. I'm sure a label will scoop her up soon, but for now, she's doin' it all on her own. Cheers to that!

This guy is awesome. I had never heard of him, but to anyone who thinks that Eric Hutchinson was magically launched to #5 on the itunes chart- yes he's now #- with no help from Perez is CRAZY. I think it's great that you could help him out because EH is talented. I don't think people should discredit the potential of this site and it's place in pop culture.

Eric Hutchinson is fabulous and has been for years — nice to see the masses catching on! I went to Emerson with Eric and am so excited to see his career taking off like this.

Check out Monica Attell, she's like Ben Folds Five, she plays the flute/piano and she sings….and she's Dave Attell's "The Insomniac from Comedy Central" kid sister. She's really cute too!

I saw him as an opening act in the DC area where he's from about 2 years ago and loved his music. I'm glad to see he's had so much success on iTunes. Thanks for giving him a shout out. I've been telling people about him for a while now. You guys have good taste.
