There's so much wrong with Britney's performance tonight and what it represents. How can the viewers be so unimportant that the producers put on an opening act that isn't any better than a junior high school talent show? Doesn't it cost millions of dollars to put these shows on, and how could ANY real professional want to be part of a "feel sorry for Britney" headliner moment? It's a disgrace. I'd say unbelievable, but it's totally believable, unfortunately. The industry is tainted and if I were a musician of real talent on top of my game, I'd refuse to participate in this "in-group" bunch of bull forced upon the public. And oddly, the most surreal TV moment I've ever experienced is when Sarah Silverman took the stage and literally ripped Britney apart just seconds after her song ended.
Let’s just get a few things straight people. Sarah Silverman making fun of her kids is no excuse. MTV pulling the plug on her Angel collaboration is no excuse. MTV, in a desperate, last minute attempt to drive up ratings and make the VMA’s relevant again, gave Britney the chance to make a comeback on a highly public scale. Sadly, both MTV and Britney failed miserably to achieve their goals. Britney simply doesn’t have it anymore; she was rusty and the production was lackluster. The feigned reference to Elvis’ comeback was trite and missed by most of the viewers. I honestly think that’s all Britney can give at this point; her performance ability has diminished and when you can’t even lip sing your own songs? Pathetic. This is the damage that too many ‘yes men’ can do: no one to tell Britney that she was not physically, emotionally or mentally ready to make such a quantum leap forward in renewing her career. It was too soon, and now look at what happened. There’s no way to spin it; that was terrible and all the criticism is justified and deserved.

Perez, The Palms was unable to get Britney's performance insured after they saw the stunts that her and Angel were going to perform; apparently the stage could not accommodate it safely. She had to change her performance last-minute. Also, she had pressure from MTV to not be too provacative.
Also, there are pictures out there that clearly show Brit's left heel broke. That is why she appeared to stumble in the beginning. It did not come completely off, but just hang there at a slant.

This posting is beyond harsh. I admit, this performance wasn't anything like her previous VMA performances but she did it anyway. Read all the info before you bash on celebrities. One, she was upset about Sarah Silverman's comments (who wouldn't be?), two, MTV made her change her performance last minute - and you can see this, her moves in this performance was different to what MTV described in their article a few days ago. This was her first big performance in four years, of course she'd be nervous. She at least had the decency to smile and say 'Thank you' after.
