Honestly that was the most horrendous performance I have ever seen before in my life. Part of me was hoping that she would fall so she could say "Can I have a do-over?". She looked terrible, she didn't even try to match her lips to the lyrics, she tripped over herself a couple times and her moves looked like she went through all her video and concert choreography and picked out the easiest moves. TERRIBLE!!!! I was utterly disgusted that even thought about bringing her trainwreck self onstage.

Dios Mio! THis was just sad. From the first shot of the bad weave I new its was going to be a disaster. She stumbled on the turn and first couple of steps, and looked embarrased. It was a combination of lack of rehearsal, possible pills/booze, embarrassment, and lack of effort. There was one moment when from 1:45 to 1:17 in the video where she's giving a little more effort but it couldn't make up for how poor performance this was. Her poor mother must be horrified!

I've also had kids - but here's the difference: She has fitness trainers and nannies and maids at her disposal. If all I had to do during the day was get ready for this performance, then I would expect to be a hell of a lot better! And unless my body was in perfect shape, I would have gone for a more flattering outfit - perhaps something I could wear a 'girdle' under!!
We shouldn't give her a break, this isn't some unknown from American Idol - this is someone who has done this for years. And if she wasn't "up to" the performance, then why did she try to relive a past image? Why not do something more mellow and subdued - something more manageable if she was so nervous?
I just wonder what the backup dancers were thinking - probably, 'I can't believe I am the backup to THIS.' And I can't imagine what MTV thought…

I feel kinda bad for her cause I know she has a mirror and could see she should have chosen a different outfit. Her hair….oh my gawd she should have just worn a wig instead of those greasy tracks. Her makeup was nice. She just looked bloated and uncomfortable and each time she was helped up and down the mini stages she just looked like that extra weight was affecting how graceful she could have been. Wow….over all it just really sucked. I mean it could have been worse she could have fallen, ran off crying, tripped, etc but basically she "got through" the performance. She shouldn't try to do a come back just yet. Go away for a while Britney…I promise we will still remember you. Clean up your life and what ever problems you have that could possibly have blined you to the point that you thought it you were ready to get on stage with that outfit, with that body, with that hair with that bad singing and with those slow awkward dance moves. Leave and come back later strong and ready to rip it up!

First of all…LIP SINGING anyone?? but that is the LEAST of her problems…First of all the whole "slut/whore/bitch" look isn't really doing much for her…in fact it makes her look, dare I say it…FAT! And for God's sake she's a MOTHER OF TWO! She could've done SOOO many other things even if she couldn't do whatever she wanted to do with Chriss Angel…

Okay, I love reading and looking at this stuff but never comment…..I have to agree w/ Perez, she is a !PERFORMER! if this is the career she wants then all drama, personal trouble, and emotions aside. You must PERFORM!
She is obviously not ready to make a comeback, she needs to prioritize. She needs to put her personal life on the back burner while she reherses, records, and Preforms! If she can learn, or retrain herself to leave the partying and drama alone when she needs to concentrate on her work, she probubly could make a great comback.
She can't use her personal trouble and her emotions as an excuse for a bad performance. I think she wants the glory without any of the work. But hard work pays, not excuses and partying. Early to bed early to rise. She needs to commit. She, like many celebrities can have a personal life and a great perfesional life. She just need to work hard.
I am not a Britney fan, I like some of her music, but as a mother of a teen, and the wife to a garage band performer, I feel she is a horrible role model.

Sadly, it looks more and more like nearly everything that Britney originally accomplished was primarily due to her management and handlers. She's a pathetic singer, and always was — Fortunately, these days the studios can make anyone sound good (Paris Hilton, anyone?). Britney's only marketable ability was looking sexy in semi-pornographic music videos, and they are the primary reason she's known today as something other than the "girl who used to be on the Mickey Mouse Club with Christina". Unfortunately, being a Lolita comes with an expiry date, and it looks like Brit's has come and gone. Ditching any semblance of competent management didn't help either. At least the good management she had in the past seems to have left her in a good financial position. Does this girl EVER sing live??? If this were my big-time comeback performance in front of peers & fans, I'd have been sure to have my shit together & put on the best performance possible. But she's too busy partying.

It WAS a horrible performance. Sorry but it seems like today's generation just doesn't see enough or appreciate a truly fabulous performance. Even when Madonna lipsynched Vogue in 1991 she did it with style……….a costumed & choreographed extravaganza that is still remembered today.

And if you want to see someone dance & SING Utube Madonna's 1989 VMA performance of Express Yourself. She doesn't always sound spot on, & does have some backing tracks supporting her, but she's SINGING the whole time & dancing a pretty intricate routine.

Too bad today's crowd doesn't have a Prince, Madonna, (pre-crazy) Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson…………….maybe then they'd truly realize what a performance is really all about.

And all you folks praising Chris Brown's performance……….his dancing was great but he was lipsynching the whole time……..when Rhianna came out, she was singing live. He wasn't. But at least his dancing was a good reason for not singing live, unlike Brit's.

I have waited and waited for her amazing come back for years and this was a B.S. No one could possibly watch this and call it a good performance. The chick's hair was fucked up! Her out of shape ass had the nerve to parade around in that ugly shit she had on! Everyone could she was lip synching. She even lost her ability to dance. I miss the old Britney so bad. I was on you tube all day yesterday watching old videoz and performances. Well….. she did look sorta nervous when it started, and to be fair there were moments when the old Brit started to emerge. I don't think that Brittany was the worst, I thik the whole show was pathetic. These are mostly talentless people who have people that are paid to constantly tell them have fabulous they are, when really they are turning into a new type of entertainment. Forget talent, good singing voices, and incredible stage presence. Now it is all about who is the bigger fuck up. The whole show sucked! Give it up MTV, learn how to find real talent and start over. Yes Britany was horrible, you expected that, but seriously she was the least of your worries, and by t he way why the fuck do people think Sarah Silverman is funny? She was harder to watch than Britany. The only ones worth anything were Linkin Park, not the screaming, just the rapping and the beat, and Rihanna. I think it is time for some serious house cleaning. That was a little sad to watch actually. It looks like it HAD the potential to be old Britney- and yet it turned out to be… well a disaster, just like Perez said. She looked so uncomfortable- like she didn't know the song or the choreography. It was just a really big mess. I actually feel bad for her- I was never a Britney fan, but I respected her… and now I don't even respect her. She needs to give those kids to K-Fed so she can go and get some real help and get back on her feet. That was just bad. And from the sounds of it, I shouldn't be all that sad I missed the show…

What I found so painful about the whole thing was how awesome her background dancers were doing. They were rocking it and she just sorta waddled around there. I bet those lollypops she sucks on are the ones they give people with cancer that have the pain-killing drugs in them.

At the end of the day, people are talking about her…that's gotta do something for record sales. Seriously, listen to her song "overprotected" it's like a total prediction of this performance, lol.

Poor Brit. I know she doesn't like being controlled, but she needs to get her old handler back who kicked her ass into shape. Hopefully she hasn't snorted all her money, because she may be needing it.

Girls are on fire!!!

We won't get to see how the ladies did until the fall, but today in Austin, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato took their seats as the new judges on The X Factor. Someone had the foresight of smuggling in a recording device to the Texas auditions and we've got the audio from the ladies' first critique!

And you know what? They sound like old pros!
