One of the highlights of Britney Spears's VMA appearance was at the end of her "performance" as the music stopped and she silently mouth a thank you to the crowd. It wasn't really a thank you. It was an "I'm sorry." You could tell that she knew. She knew she sucked. She knew she sucked majorly!
Oh yeah, we also loved it when she almost tripped running offstage when she was done!
As soon as she was over with her performance, she started "crying badly [backstage]. She's devastated. She was really nervous and knows she screwed up," Us Weekly is reporting.

Anyone who had high expectations of her performance is just nostalgic for the past. I don't think she can shock us any more than she already has, between her quickie marriage(s), poor parenting and hideous everyday wardobe malfunctions. The one thing that would have shocked me is if she would have shown up with her real hair, no nasty extenstions, in a classy dress, and would have actually SUNG a song, live. She was scared to death and was thinking way to hard about every step that she made. She definately looked out of her eliment. She took a risk and unfortunately it failed. She seeks out the attention, and then gets pissed off when the stories are negative. Take a long vacation, Britney… and one that does not involve partying. I found myself feeling sorry for her after I saw the performance. I saw my sister go through losing her kids because of the incredible depression spiral that she went through, and I see a lot of that in Brittney. So much of her life is built around this idea of everyone loving her (or, at least, everyone being obsessed with her), and she has to know that she's in serious trouble right now.
I hope that she finds a way out of this.
What's with MTV letting her lipsink? Plus it seemed several other "performers" did too. Brittney looked like she had just learned the dance moves the way she moved so stiff! It was so sad.

My heart goes out to Britney. I think she is clinically depressed and is acting out/self medicating/self destructing because she doesn't know how to get her life under control. She needs professional help, her mother and time out of the spotlight to get it together.
