Rosie O'Donnell is dropping her new memoir, Celebrity Detox, next month and she does not mince her words when it comes to talking about Barbara Walters.
Addressing her former boss in the book, Rosie says, "And Barbara. At some point, a person gets tired. It's inevitable," the New York Post reports. Barbara Walters is almost twice my age. At some point it becomes necessary to step back. Everyone has to go. Going is part of the gig."
O'Donnell goes on to add, "I would be less-than-honest if I were to say that there is no trouble between Barbara and I. I mean, our differences are obvious."
What lead to the tension between Rosie and Barbara? Jealousy, O'Donnell alleges.
Rosie say that during commercial breaks on The View, audience members would sometimes shout out, "I love you, Rosie" – "and Barbara politely tells them in a schoolteacher tone, 'It is impolite to say I love you to one person when there are four of us up here.' "
For her part, Walters is avoiding discussing O'Donnell's book in detail.
Asked for comment, Barbara has said, "Rosie sent me the book with a note telling me how much she loved me. I have read the book – and I would like to concentrate on the love that she sent."

I watch The View since Rosie left and like Whoopi but find her boring. I don't think I'll be able to watch anymore (although Sheri could pick it up!). I can't stand listening to Barbara anymore. Something has happened to her over the last year. She's sounding old now and her voice is annoying. She talked about her friend Beverly quitting at the top of her game and she believes you shouldn't 'overstay'. She needs to go. Her time is up.

As I am doing my armchair quarter backing it is my "view" that what Barbara meant when she addressed the audience and "scolded" them is that Rosie was not the show, there were at least three other women with her and the more the show became about Rosie the more it detracted from the original concept of the show. Rosie has a right to call it jealousy but if she took a broader "view" I think she would realize that people like myself stopped watching the show because it became overly Rosie and I can only take so much of her bullying style. And the way Elisabeth(whether you disagree with her "view" or not) was constantly quadruplied piled upon became nauseating and horrifying to me and Rosie front and center on dishing out the venom.

The View became absolute must-see TV for me when Rosie became the host. I had watched it before, but couldn't stand Elisabitch. Meridith and Barbara were both too "impartial" (read boring). Joy was and always is great, but Barbara seems to be stopping Joy when she tries to voice strong opinions. Barbara does tell the same stories over and over and I always hated her heavy promotion of her other shows on The View. I think she is a good representative for older women on The View, but I wish she would not try to dominate. Today's View was pretty good - no Barbara - just the 4 co-hosts. Elisabitch was disgusting trying to kiss up to Susan Sarandan - especially when you know she probably disagrees with everything the intelligent Ms. Sarandan supports. Whoppi needs to be more assertive and vocal. I miss Rosie - she tells it like it is.

How many of you actually watched "The View" when Rosie was on? I loved when she spoke about controversial issues, not just what underpants are most comfortable, or some other trivial bullshit. Many of you underestimate Rosie's influence on "The View", and it must have been hard for a woman who had her own Emmy award winning show to work with a group of women who could sometimes be so intolerable. It's one thing to be wooed and be convinced to do a show for one season, and then have all these stipulations added once the contract is signed. They hired her because she's controversial, and then they're shocked by some of comments she made on the show? WTF? Rosie's meeting with HBO and hopefully this show will be one she can exercise more control over. And for the comments regarding her "getting a real job"–she is working all the time, just on different projects. My last comment—you need to watch "The View" when Barbara is on–my God, some of the things she says could only come out of the mouth of an 80-year-old woman. Yes, she is deserving of respect, but she's beginning to sound very senile. She's kinda out of it sometimes, and the "jokes" she tries to deliver fall flat or sound very rude and harsh.
