Everyone at MTV must be breathing a sigh of relief. They needed this to be a hit badly.
Viewership for the big show was up 23% over last year! 7.1 million people watched the VMAs on Sunday.
She may be the ultimate fuck-up, but people are still curious about Britney Spears. Those who have decried her career as "dead" may have predicted so foolishly.
Her new album won't do anywhere near what her previous efforts did, but we don't think it will totally bomb either.
So when is she gonna do that sit-down interview with Oprah?????

Wow, MTV must be ever so proud of themselves. While I'm no great fan of Ms Spears and think her time would be more wisely spent hiring a good therapist rather than prancing around in a sparkly bikini, I think MTV and the industry in general ought to be having a great deal of trouble sleeping at night. Putting that girl on the VMAs at all was a sick and cruel joke intended to make even more of a fool of her. No one could seriously have anticipated that she'd be together enough to make a proper go of it. I think that's out and out cruel rather than comical and I feel very, very sorry for Britney. She needs a bloody good friend to tell her a few home truths and help her sort herself out.

Everyone was interested in seeing Britney - I was too. I really wanted her to do well. I don't get into that type of music much but the song grew on me. It's a shame she didn't have her act together because it was a perfect song for some of her signature moves.

Well I think the Britney thing was instrumental in the rise of the number of viewers. People wanted to see just how good or bad her performance was going to be. The show did suck and the best part was Chris Brown's and for a minute Rhyiana's performance. I didn't see Alicia Key's performance though. She needs a lot more work, but who knows what her CD will do. She needs better producers. All she needs is one hit. Gimme more is not it. That shit needs more.
