Music industry insiders are telling us that Kanye West's new album, released on Tuesday, is on its way to selling 700,000 copies.

50 Cent's new record is only projected to move about 500,000 units.

There is even talk that Kenney Chesney's new album, also released this week, will do better than Fiddy too.

50 Cent coming in third???

While im not a fan of 50 he has good beats and a lot of catchy hooks,the problem with that is once u get pass the hooks and beats and down to music what is it really all about . I remember dear mamma , keep ur head , and the list goes on with pac, all music with a meaning.My point to that is even hard core rappers realize that there needs to a message in this music . I always find the messages in kayne's music. when i put on his cd i get motivated inspired even , and 50 he don;t move me that way . Yes kayne whines his attitude dissapoints me but he is a great mesage carrier. So is 50 i guess but lets all think about the message that both are sending .

This is good for hip-hop. Friendly competition is one of the foundations of great hip-hop. Both will be either platinum or gold after the first 2 days of release and the publicity from this is great. Both represent different spectrums of the music, but both are good at what they do. I prefer Kanyes music though, takes a little of the normal subject matter of A Tribe Called Quest, flash and attitude of Jay-z, and adds a little self commentary and social commentary of an early Common. He's allowed to be heated when he doesn't win, it is a sign that he feels he's putting his best out there, can you say that for your favorite artist?

They're not even the same type music really or same audience, in my opinion

I liked Kanye alot when College Dropout came out, it's a good album. And maybe he is more musically diverse, but he is just SO personally unappealling now………like a cross between a more famous Farnsworth Bentley and a tantrum-throwing Kid Rock, he has zero appeal and I personally don't think Graduation is anywhere close to College Dropout

50 Cent is a lot mre appealing, he does one type music, yes, but he does it well and some good stuff, its just that things like "Candyshop" get released as singles and that isnt really what his core audience is going to like, its kind of a dumb song
I like "I Get Money" off Curtis , and "All of me" and most of it, really….
I think 50 Cent is basically kind of unique because when you put aside the Gangsta songs and the travesty's like "CandyShop", most of his songs are sexy as hell plus with a little streak of romantic/ or dead pan funny.
Plus he's hot and the guy got shot what, 9 times? The clear winner in my book
Kanye has talent, but he markets himself porly and comes across as a wanna be whiner

Also, both these albums were available for download a week before the released…………….so is album sales really a gauge of ANYTHING anymore?

We won't get to see how the ladies did until the fall, but today in Austin, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato took their seats as the new judges on The X Factor. Someone had the foresight of smuggling in a recording device to the Texas auditions and we've got the audio from the ladies' first critique!

And you know what? They sound like old pros!
