Despite speculation that she would be using the show as an opportunity to apologize for her painfully bad VMA performance, Britney Spears will not be making an appearance at the Emmy Awards this Sunday.

"Britney Spears has no plans to appear on the Emmys this Sunday," says a spokesperson for her label, Jive.

Ughh. Hopefully the trainwreck will go away on a nice long vacation.

That is just the stupidest thing I've ever heard about. The network would only be interested in even considering such a thing for a ratings bonanza but WHAT does Britney have to do with the Emmys? She hasn't had a television appearance or a nomination of any kind. It would be an insult to attend–insulting to the hard working actors and production crews who DESERVE to be there. What Britney needs to do is go away and take care of her babies…and then get her crap together, hire a decent "comeback" team, and then do the requisite interview with someone on a major network (or OPRAH). But not for at least a year or so.

Britney, you could build the mystique a bit if you just went into hiding and stopped club hopping. Give your kids something to be proud about: YOU, at home, 24/7.
