Our Girl Is Blowing Up

There's nothing that brings us more joy than when one of our "children" gets the success we've always thought they deserve.

Last month, we christened her our new girl and said that they better release her album in the U.S.

Now, it's happening!

Robyn has scored a deal with Interscope to release her killer new album, of which she has said, "I made this record on my own label, with no compromises."

Congrats, Robyn!

jeez…someone's paying perez a fat check. her music was…lame, boring, nothing to get interested in.

oh lord, thank god for large miracles. the US used to love her so its about time we welcome Ms. Konichiwa back with open arms! I love her, always have always will. but sille is right, it's not new…at all. lol, maybe they'll release something different here in the US?

She's been around for a long time and had a couple hits in America a couple years ago. She got pretty big here, then just disappeared, at least from here she did. It's funny, i was just thinking about here the other day wondering what happened to her. I remember rockin her CD like crazy. She's GREAT, I can't believe she went away for sooo long. What an awesome talent, Glad TO see her back~

    18. twin atlantic says – reply to this

      18

yeah Perez, I somehow doubt you're the reason her album is crossing the Atlantic.

Perhaps its actually got something to do with the fact shes already famous in scandnavia and shes just had a MASSIVE number 1 in the UK with With Every Heartbeat?

    19. GO KILL UR SELF!!!!! says – reply to this

doesn't she sing that "crush" song from forever ago?

    25. Stafford says – reply to this

      25

I hate to break your heart Perez .. but this girl had a hit back in the 90s. So she cant really be the "NEW" thing .. if she has already been out. Get back on your reporting horse and stop worrying about your rap career on MTV .. bc you were whining like a bitch. Acting like J.Lo .. and you dont have any kind of reason to actin like a Diva .. your only famous for this website!!

    26. La Munequa says – reply to this

      26

Hi #25 CRUSH was sung my Jennifer Paige not Robyn.
Robyn was Britney Spears (with more talent!) way before Britney became Britney…

      31

Perez, she has been around for awhile - you did not discover her, she is not "new".

    32. Mike says – reply to this

      32

Seeing as though she's been on the house scene for at least a decade, I don't see how she is one of your "children".

      33

Is this the same Robyn that had that hit in the late 90s called "Show Me Love"???

    34. Huh? says – reply to this

      34

You are super great with music. You should know she has been around for a long time and had quite a presence in the US a while ago. Including a huge billboard promoting her CD in Time Square!

"Show me Love" was cool, new song on her myspace is cool.
Perez, even though you tried to take credit for her, you're pretty cool;)
Can't rap is what I've heard though, hehehe. Don't worry I'll vote for you next week;)

I remember Robyn from like, 1997. I hated her then. Not looking promising now, either.

    41. aubsmiles says – reply to this

      41

She might not be actually *new*, but you're right- the release of her most recent album has been long overdue in the states! I love all the songs on it! Good job, Perez!

    42. Lisa Ling says – reply to this

      42

She was huge in Europe ten years ago when I lived in Stockholm. In fact, she released a single here and shot a video. She is awesome though.

    43. Sunny Sam says – reply to this

      43

She's not exactly new. She had international and US hits, in 1997 with the singles "Show Me Love" and "Do You Know (What it Takes)".

    44. K says – reply to this

      44

THIS MUSIC FUCKING SUX…..WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    45. Hello Kitty says – reply to this

      45

Um why does it sound like you found Robyn under a rock ?

She has already had a hit album in the US years ago, and her record company failed to follow up when their was a window, so once again US fans were foced to pay import taxes to keep up with the rest of the world.

Why can't itunes go global already, or have the import tax added into the price of Int tracks !

    46. Mel says – reply to this

      46

      "Our 'children'"
Oh my God, Robyn has had a successful career for over ten years. She even had two considerable hits in the U.S.
      You are so fucking delusional.

    47. mema says – reply to this

      47

UH, SHE IS OLD TO THIS BIZZ I HAD HER ALBUM BACK IN 1997 OR SO SHE HAD 2 HIT SONGS AND THAT WAS IT SHE THREW IN THE TOWEL SHE IS JUST WIPING THE DUST OFF AND GOIN FOR ANOTHER ROUND ITS NOT A BAD SONG SO WE WILL SEE

    48. Petra says – reply to this

      48

She is Swedis and has been very big in Sweden for about 10 years. She first came to US about 7 years ago… I am Swedish so I know. She is really good and a down to earth girl.

    49. Mater says – reply to this

      49

I usually like the stuff Perez recommends AND I liked the album Robyn put out it the late '90's, but the new stuff doesn't do it for me. It's kind of dull.

      53

shut the fuck up perez! I remember Robyn from the 90's… and i look at your site every day and i dont even remember any posts about her. U idiot asshole… your tv appearances suck ass!

    54. Parks says – reply to this

      54

Ah! Terrific! I've been looking forward to this for about 2 months now! I'm OBSESSED with Robyn, but I didn't want to pay for an imported CD (since it's over twice as much as a CD in the US). I love Robyn! and yes, it's the same girl who sang Show Me Love in the 90's. Her music is now techno for the most part, and she has some hilarious, dirty songs (Konitchiwa Bitches, Jack U Off, etc.)! She's fabulous!

    55. missuss says – reply to this

      55

you're not doing robyn, or any other musicians/bands any favours by writing about them. you are tainting these talent with your trashiness.

    56. john says – reply to this

      56

"With Every Heartbeat" is a true masterpiece! I wish her all the success in the US. She will do just fine.

    57. Alasdair says – reply to this

      57

I scored an advance Australian copy of this album and was lucky enough to interview her for a music mag over here. She's smart and sweet and the album is mostly really excellent … it's pop with an indie edge, like Annie or Gwen Stefani, with some nice electro and hip-hop beats and clever lyrics.

    58. ivory says – reply to this

      58

      Ok Perez,
Robyn has been around since the mid 90's, and she has been popular for a long time. Although you do a lot for a lot of artists, Robyn isn't one of them. She did this on her own, and has always been fly. Her first album is a lot better than the new stuff anyways.

    59. Lynsey says – reply to this

      59

Didn't she have a hit song like a REALLY long time ago? Like, in the '90s? It was like "show me love" or something…I've got it stuck in my head right now. Thanks, P.

Not everybody is as cool & hip in the US as you all in Scandinavia are…our cookie cutter radio stations run by conservative baby boomers only play select crap. Perezzle is trying to change that here in the USA.

I for one am not that hip so I didn't know about Robyn -I'm super excited that her album will be available in the US finally.
