The gays are slowly disappearing off television!
According to a new report from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, a total of seven series on the five broadcast networks feature regular lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) characters this season, down from nine last season.
The number has dropped for the past three years in a row!
On the other hand, LGBT representation on the mainstream cable networks is skyrocketing with 57 characters this year, including 40 regular, up from a total of 35 (regular and recurring) last year.

as a gay man i say "who cares?". the gay characters are usually a novelty anyway; sort of like the prducers figure that EVERYONE in America hangs out with at least one or two token queers NOT TRUE. i always thought the addition of gay characters on a show was kind of a ratings ploy anyway, just too obvious. remember when Joey and Ross were both interested in the same black chick on Friends? like we're to believe that all of a sudden, 8 yrs down the road they both decide to date an ethnic woman; didnt make any sense. and neither do gay characters most of the time.
You see the comments from the h8ters, don't you? Did you think I was kidding when I said the religious kooks are warming up to eliminate gays? This nation has gone quite mad and completely forgotten the principles of individual freedom that made it great.
Ok, if you just step back and take a look you will notice something. Gays are the most annoying of all groups of people. Do you all just need that much attention all the time?? You want to be equal yet you want to shove your lifestyle onto everyone and make them embrace it. Got news for you my friend, part of living in the free world is we have a right to our own belifs, I don't have to embrace your lifestyle. I want treat you different or deny you service, job, etc, but I do not have to embrace your lifestyle, neither does anyone else. If you want to get ahead then you need to quickly learn people don't like stuff shoved down their throats all the time. Back off and you will have a better chance at being excepted.

Hey, I love gays just as much as I love anyone else on this planet, but the last time I checked the heteros were still a whopping majority in the world, so just to be realistic, maybe there shouldn't be a gay character in every possible show, right? Besides, I'd prefer that there was a good reason for a character to be gay and not just make someone gay in order to please GLAAD. Quality over quantity.

I always find it odd the need to out people in celebworld. I mean doing so is an affront on their personal choice. I think the main problem is a need to make the system more agreeable to be gay. We should not be attacking people who may or may not be gay or who we believe are gay. We should be attacking the system and doing more to make it a better environment overall for people to come out in their own way. Doing this naming people as gay will drive more people who are gay and not out into hiding. It adds to the fire, rumour and gossip and can lead to other less plausable things being thrown on them.
