    OK everyone. It was a book first. Most operas have source material. There are very few totally original operas. Plus, I really don't think any of you guys are going to see a Charles Wuorinen opera, and it will probably only play LA, NYC, or London. So stop complaining about something that doesn't even affect you.

    When will people understand? Brokeback wasn't ONLY ABOUT BEING GAY, it was about forbidden love. About Society Sucking Ass. About feeling lonely, isolated, misunderstood. It's not a GAY movie, it's not the property of GAY people. Priscilla Queen of the Desert, yes. Brokeback Mountain? That was a beautiful work of art.

    Gawd, stressedgoddess, you're really stressed, and yes, I did see the movie. I was joking. By the way, since you're super serious regarding this topic: movies are often adapted for TV (i.e., Alice; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; etc., etc.) These adaptations often unfortunately bare very little resemblance to the motion pictures that they are based upon but then the point is not to re-tell these movies but rather to very creatively tailor the principle characters and basic premises/themes underlying the original motion pictures to appeal to advertisers and to target audiences and thereby generating advertising revenue. Just google motion pictures adapted and modified for TV.
