Could it just possibly be that all the other complicit muslim nations allowed Iraq to place their weapons for safe keeping? I read the Carter Doctrine and the Reagan Corollary to the Carter Doctrine. I get that we needed a show of force in the Persian Gulf to keep out the Soviets. What I don't get is how it applies to the Iraq war. It is one thing to have a show of force, and something entirely different when starting a war.
Bush said we had to get Saddam and the WOMD. Bush said we had to protect our country after 9/11 because OBL attacked us here at home.
What does the Carter Doctrine, and Saddam have to do with OBL and 9/11????
What I do get is Iraq is suffering because of continued occupation. Our soldiers and their people are dying everyday. What progress has been made? When will the Iraqi government pull it together and take over so we can pull out the troops???? Is this going to go on forever? To what end and to what cost??? First off, I am not condoning any actions made by president bush, but I would like to point out to a previous comment that stated, " bush literally pushed away the warning signs" is not exactly accurate. While you can push part of the blame on him, the blame can be spread across all parties, colors, creeds, etc. There is no one person to blame. Keep in mind that the attack was indeed in SEPTEMBER of his first year as president, so he had only been in office a matter of months. Before that Clinton( a democrat) was in power. Also, before we make off the cuff , sometimes ignorant comments about Iraq, just ask yourself how you would feel if you were one of the soldiers in Iraq that is gladly fighting for YOU and eating an MRE everday, fighting with 80 pounds of gear on when the temperature is 130( that's how hot it is in Iraq) , and being away from your family for atleast a year. It wouldn't feel good to not have the support of the people you put your life on the line for day after day ( IED's exploding as you drive down the street, etc). Next time, before anyone makes any comments about Iraq, take a second to think about the soldiers who don't have the luxury of reading perezhilton everyday while they relax in the comfort of their own home.

Who knows what would have happened if President Bush hadn't responded after the second WTC attack.

In 2002 Bush quoted a report by the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) that supposedly said Iraq was just about to develop nuclear weapons citing this as a reason for invading Iraq. The IAEA says that this report did not exist, here's a quote from them "Based on all credible information to date, the IAEA has found no indication of Iraq having achieved its program goal of producing nuclear weapons or of Iraq having retained a physical capability for the production of weapon-useable nuclear material or having clandestinely obtained such material.
The US has created more world problems than it's ever tried to cure.
How did Osama get the knowledge and weapons to become a terrorist in the first place? Why are there innocent Iraqi women and children dying on a daily basis and being called "collateral damage" to make it sound less horrific? Reagan/Bush then gave weapons to Iraq to even out the war, since Saddam was a CIA asset. The weapons sales continued with Iran. Remember the Iran/Contra hearings? Which were bought with drug money funneled into Los Angeles. Read Gary Webb’s articles on the CIA and you’ll realize the true crack epidemic was to pay for Reagan/Bush’s illegal wars, etc. Wake up! Everything I posted was reported on the big three networks when it happened or within the major newspapers. There were Congressional investigations into it all, which might be boring to some help reveal quite a bit. It took eight years for the Independent Counsel's office to investigate Iran/Contra…which has ties to all the rest I posted. Of course, I'm sure you aren't so naive as to not understand the implications of Bush43's Executive Order 13233, shortly after 9/11. Since, Bush wanted to go into Iraq, he needed to reclassify the papers and policy that brought America to Iraq in the first place.
