As if we needed any more reason to love her!

Shakira has just pledged over $45 million to charity.

Through the Latin America for Solidarity Foundation, ALAS, which means wings in Spanish, which she co-founded, she will donate $40 mill to repair damage caused by an earthquake in Peru and a hurricane in Nicaragua.

She also announced on Thursday, during a chat at Bill Clinton's big pow wow in NY, that she was also spearheading a three-year, $5 million commitment for projects for children in the region, where about 40 percent of the population lives in poverty.

"I've seen first-hand many of the challenges facing Latin America," she said in a statement. "These are challenging problems that no one person can address, but working together everyone can help make a difference."

It is refreshing to see someone famous use their wealth to better those less fortunate instead of squandering it on another million dollar mansion, another mercedes, etc. The sin of gluttony is alive and well in Hollywood. I've been a Shaki fan for years! I love her Spanish early albums the best.

This woman is amazing: She's got a genius IQ, she speaks 5 languages and plays several instruments, writes and produces ALL her own music, and then donates all her time and money to help those less fortunate in her home country and continent. She is also the youngest UNICEF ambassedor ever!

I hate that idiots here read this amazing article and then have the audacity to say "I hate her" or "her music sucks". Some of you ignorant Americans need to see the bigger picture here. The Luxor headlining illusionist was recorded having quite the verbal altercation with Joe Monti, one of his magic producers on Wednesday, during which Angel is heard threatening to knock him out - and now he's had a police report filed against him!
