First off, 'Dancing With The Stars' started in places like Italy. Programs in the U.S. are usually 'stolen' from places abroad and then taken on in the U.S. AFTER they're a bit hit. Secondly, I'm more than sure that Italy has done A LOT for Naomis career, as well as other (aspiring) models. Lastly, MANY actors/ singers go on programs such as these overseas more frequently then they do in the U.S. to OBVIOUSLY broaden they're fans (& the like). So I don't see the point in 'dissing' Naomi for her participation in an Italian show. Why does she have to to it in the U.S.? She's not even 'American if you want to get technical, for that matter.

Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany etc. Italian television maintains the biggest ratings, and it has been so for more that twenty years. Lets not exaggerate - Italian television falls way behind American and British television. RAI would fall WAY behind the BBC or CNN. Italian is spoken by 63 Million people in Italy and Switzerland. English, on the other hand is spoken by over 1 Billion people world wide (heck, even French is spoken by more people - over 300 Million).

the show in Italy is live…she wasn't a true contestant, but just a sort of special guest. Everytime they will have a guest. Then they close the votes from home deadline (people watching from home can vote by phone to make up the rankings of contestants unlike in the USA version). Then the bottom 4 couples are called again. They dance again. The jury picka up their favourite and this couple is awarded of the points got by the guest (Naomi in this case) and so this couple got saved leaving the other 3 battling for survival.

Now - after proving ERI's information is completely wrong - I should take the time to defend what is going on with Naomi. Firstly the Euro is currently worth USD 1.4219 (and the dollar is expected to fall further). Naomi might have just been offered more money to perform. Heck… a million Euros would be 1,421,900 million dollars! As for her performance… I thought it was fine, she looked gorgeous and I'd not mind seeing her progress throughout the competition.

It's so funny to see so many italian guys offended because you say that Italian TV is low rent. Well, I'm Italian, and I can say that IT'S TRUE!! It's a shame, because they have money and infact they often invite hollywood stars in the tv shows paying them million euros. With that money they could do good things, and instead they just prefer do bad things and inviting charming guests to make it seem they are good things instead.

Just another little thing for people who asked the reason of the "pirate of the caribean" theme. Here in Italy they use it EVERYWHERE and EVERYTIME with no apparent connection with the thing they are showing: it's an obsession! In this case, I just think they used it because the following dance was in someway caraibic-like… but I'm just guessing. There could be any reason: maybe it was the only song the sound engeneer managed to find in that moment

Naomi is a guest star in the italian version , she isn't in the regular cast which is composed by italian vip( or "Vip" for reality)
The italian version based on BBC format is not low rent . I think they have the same budget of all big europe country.
The USA version has a 300 milion people of potential wievers is logical that have a great budget.
NAOMI is famous in italy(and in the world) for being a super top model , friend of dolce and gabbana and Donatella Versace , for her bad character and as ex-girlfriend of italian top manager Flavio Briatore

I'm inclined to agree with what others have said.

I'm from the UK and if any version is low rent, it is ours. It doesn't get celebrities anywhere near Naomi's status - just washed up soap stars, failed singers and the odd sports player.

I'm not saying it's any less entertaining - and it's gets massive ratings - but it's rude and ignorant to assume that just because it's not UK or US that it is in anyway "low rent".
