Radiohead's Novel Idea

Radiohead are giving away copies of their new album, In Rainbows, out next week.
For reals!
Now that they are no longer signed to a major record label, the band can do as they want. And they are giving their fans the opportunity to pay as much as they want or as little as 90 cents, the credit card processing fee to download the album from their website.
Die-hard fans will likely pay something or actually $80 to be precise. That's the amount of the new Radiohead box-set, which includes the album on CD, two vinyl records, a CD with additional songs, photos, artwork and lyrics.
Very cool to think outside the box, so to speak.
Kudos to Radiohead!

Seems like Prince giving away Planet Earth In The Mail on Sunday a few weeks ago caught their attention and decided to do the same.
I'm going to wait for the friggin box set. This is a band that deserves my money.
Kudos to you Perez for putting this u . They'll be the first and certainly not to last to execute this plan. It just makes sense, and thom, johnny, ed, colin, and phil are not money hungry pigs, can't wait to see them live (again). I advise everyone to get this cd as well, I heard it when they were on tour, it will be impeccable (as always).

With the technology to record and distribute an album outside the old and tired corporate model, it's great that Radiohead is doing this. Their fans SHOULD pay for this and this should be the beginning of the end for the greedy record labels. And when I say greedy, I mean greedy beyond wanting to make an honest profit. Their evil tactics and bonehead stance on treating music listener as criminals makes this move by Radiohead one that should be copied by all others to break the back of the music industry.

I love Radiohead the most ever, but it sucks that they are SO big that you can't even see them live anymore without shelling out LOTS of dollars. Just 3-4 years ago, it was pretty easy! I will definitely be buying this album!

Very cool Radiohead! I give them props! The fact that they're actually allowing the fan to decide whether or not they want to pay for the ablum makes me not want to illegally download the damn thing, and instead actually pay the guys…. it pays to have a selfless idea every once in a while =)
