The brief City Center revival of the legendary musical Gypsy, starring Patti LuPone, is thisclose to coming to Broadway for an extended run in early 2008!!

Now when are they gonna do a revival of West Side Story???

    I saw that show during it's City Centres Run. Believe me, LuPone was AMAZING and didn't disappoint! She seriously got a standing ovation three seperate times in one night and she completely deserved it.

    When I was a kid I saw Patti's stage debut as Evita in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion - ever since then, this woman has delivered the goods, whether on th musical stage or even in opera. True old-fashioned star quality! She'll be SWELL - she'll be GREAT! Go Patti Go!

    I'm surprised since Bernadette's revival just hit Bway a few years ago…I suppose there is a shelf life on how long you can play Mama Rose. LuPone will be greath though. You know, Perez - YOU'D be a great Mama Rose! xox

    WoW, Perez. I agree with you. A revival of "West Side Story" is definitely due. But remember, the story is a little "racist" so it might not be politically correct to bring it back to Broadway in these times. If they do, my head spins thinking about the casting possibilities. Tell the truth, Perez. Do you dream of playing Maria or Tony? LOL!

    I saw Gypsy last summer and was completely blown away. I hope it does make it to B'way so more people can see a true diva in a role so worthy of her talent. Plus, Arthur Laurents has stated he would like to direct a revival of West Side Story for next year. Laurents has an awful lot on his plate for a man pushing 90!!
