This skit brings up a good topic for discussion. I fundamentally oppose abortions, but it breaks my heart to think about the suffering an unwanted child will have to face, brought into a world without a willing and adequate parent. The fact is, there will not always be a loving couple to adopt every unwanted baby. Abortions mean too many parents are not doing a good enough to educate their children about family planning. Also, some kids do not get this info from home and therefore schools need to be active in providing this education. I think high schools need to update and improve their sex ed program. They need to get more realistic, personal and "in your face" with youths; Schools should screen kids who are having sex and make sure they are personally spoken to by a counselor regarding their decision to be sexually active. This is not saying that schools/parents should condone and enable premarital sex, but they need to be realistic and teach kids about sex more in depth, make them fully understand all the heath and life risks they are taking when they choose to have sex. I remember when there was a backlash by parents who felt schools were intruding and "out of line" when they found out that their child's school was teaching about sex and providing condoms; objecting sex education is just plain blind, stupid and derails a resonable solution to the problem. Prevention/Proper Sex Education to youths in family/schools is key.
