We gotta applaud Kelly Clarkson!
Despite the fact that her latest album, My December, has been a huge commercial disappointment, the singer is determined to go on tour and support the record.
Clarkson had to cancel her arena tour this past summer due to poor ticket sales. Shows were moved to much smaller venues.
Kelly's immediate plans are to tour and promote My December. She has no plans to record another (better) album any time soon, unfortunately.
She tells Australia's Courier-Mail, "I don't know Perez Hilton and he doesn't know my schedule. We're not in the studio. We're touring this album. We're working."
Bummer!
Hey, at least she's doing it her way.

This is a nice change: an entertainer actually taking full responsibility for a bad decision. If the album is all that bad — sales seem to indicate so — then the tour will be over very soon. Who knows; it may become very popular overseas.

My December is my favorite Kelly album yet. It's very different and a lot more mature than her other albums. I love that Kelly doesn't give a shit about how many albums she sold, and has taken the reigns where her career is concerned! I love her!

I'm not a fan of pop music. I don't really "like" Clarkson's music per-say, however, I admire that she's trying to do her own thing and do the kind music she wants to do, not what she's told to do. There are many bands and singers who never show up on this gay website or are even household names - but they tour every year, have a strong fanbase, and are doing just fine. And yeah, whoever gave Perez the black eye, good one!!!
"Failure?" Her album has DEFINITLEY not failed. Some people.. namely the shietous artists you endorse.. would DIE to have their albums sell as well as "My December" has done thus far with NO promotion and NO second single. Fuck you
Well, she's a has-been and that's the simple truth of the matter. Other female singers have popped up recently (Lilly Allen, Amy Winehouse, Fiest, etc.) that have come out and overshadowed her. Oh well, deal with it. Nobody lasts forever in the music world unless you're the Rolling Stones.

Don't believe the negative hype - it's just Clive Davis' need to be right. Any Kelly fan will love this album, it's an extension of the song "Addiction" from Breakaway. I hear lots of Pat Benatar's influence on this album. Check it out.

I have to say Perez, I got the CD, and first reaction was confused. But as I listenned to it, I really starting to get into the songs. Now there are 10 tracks that I play over and over. by the way I am over 35 too! I think the wrong song was released first, but the CD itself is worth the 10 bucks spent!

I use to not be able to get enough of this site and I never had a problem with Perez, but that has changed recently. This site is not the addiction it once was and I no longer believe anything he says. Enough with Castro being dead. Enough with the crap you say about Britney and enough with always putting down Kelly Clarkson. He use to be impartial, but now he only has a few celebrities he talks about and it is quite tiresome. I actually like My December much more than her previous albums. And "Sober" is a wonderful song about early recovery. (Something Shitney might want to listen to, if she can get enough sobriety under her belt to have the guts to listen to a GOOD singer…)
It's a bummer "my december" didn't do well. It's a good album. I love it. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to release it during the summer, it's so an album you can get into as the day's get shorter and it starts getting colder during fall and winter. She rocks in this one! wish her the best on tour!

I'm sick of articles about Kelly Clarkson's supposed "failure".
For an album with no radio help, no promotion from the record label, barely any video support, and lambasting from people who think they know better than she does (i.e. Perez), it's sold rather well and is still on the charts, despite no viable single at the moment.
No artist can pull the kind of numbers that her last album did on a consistent basis, nor should they put out the same record again and again. If we want Kelly Clarkson to have a longer career, we should let her flesh out her creativity and spread her wings. And yes, "breakaway".
Do NOT pick on Kelly Clarkson. She's gorgeous and sings like an angel. Nothing she does should be considered a failure. She's not drunk or stoned constantly, or a trainwreck, and she can really sing. She's a winner and an A lister.
For an album that TANKED… it sure gets played a fuckton on my itunes.

Perez, too bad you can't open your mind a little and give the CD another listen. I too hated it when I first heard it. But I gave it a second try after a few weeks and it's now one of my favorite albums of the year. It's not pop-y or safe, and the songs actually convey emotion. Good thing that success or failure in sales isn't really connected to how good or bad something is. If that were true Banarama would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Do you know want to know why her new album/tour is failing? Her first single off of it, "Never Again," which you would assume should be the CD's best track, is a piece of crap song! I don't care how heartfelt or personal it is, at a minimum it needs to have a catchy hook and that one doesn't. (Unless you consider her screaming "NEVER AGAIN!!!!" a catchy hook.) I don't have any problems with her but any success she has had with the song is only because of residual goodwill that her fans have for her. When it comes up on my "Now" CD I have to get up and change the track.
I love kelly. my december was a good album and sober is one of the greatest songs i have ever heard. it is sad that you would mock her for making an album that is true to her, perez. yet you support all these nobodys that nobody gives a damn about and who will neve have as much success as kelly. kelly is beautiful and strong. she does not conform to what ppl want her to be and that's why she's one of the best out there. if she never records another song again her music will still go down as some of the best in the last decade. what impact will you have on history Perez?

My December is a great record. Sales are not as good as they could be because Kelly's not getting any radio play. That's what happens when label management feels a need to prove a point. Buy the record (you won't be disappointed) and support Kelly and all the other up and coming artists who don't want to put out label-endorsed formula pop music!
