Despite the absence of Rosie O'Donnell, ratings for The View continue to surge even more this season.
This week, "The View" generated its largest Total Viewer (3.68 million), Women 18-34 (397,000) and Women 18-49 (1.03 million) audiences in four months — since week of 5/28/07.
" On a week-to-week basis, "The View" improved by 4% in Total Viewers (3.68 million vs. 3.55 million), by 14% in Women 18-34 (397,000 vs. 369,000) and by 6% in Women 18-49 (1.03 million vs. 945,000).
" Versus the comparable year-ago week, "The View" improved by 14% in Total Viewers (3.68 million vs. 3.23 million), by 8% in Women 18-34 (397,000 vs. 369,000) and by 1% in Women 18-49 (1.03 million vs. 1.02 million).

Whoopi has had her claws retracted for the most part, so far. But as Rosie has said on her blog, it's still early! Eventually the fur is going to fly between her and Elizabitch. That's what people are tuning in for, so it's no different than why people were watching when Rosie was on. Whoopi's just taking a more subtle approach, but things are going to keep heating up as we near the election.

I'm so glad that Rosie's gone from the View. I liked her when she had her own show but once she came out she became obnoxious and abrasive and lost her sense of humor. I hated how she took over the View and wouldn't let anyone else talk. She also managed to play the gay card as often as possible which I thought was way over the top. Not everything is a gay issue. As for Elisabeth, I feel sorry for her. Instead of putting two more liberals on the show they should have hired one liberal and one conservative to balance things out. Elisabeth is the only conservative up there and she's fighting for her life and that's really not fair. She gets shut down every time she tries to make a point because there are three people taking the opposing view. It must be hard for her to come to work every day. All this aside, the View is much more entertaining now that Rosie's gone and it's not such a shout fest anymore. It's also a lot classier without Rosie.
