INTERESTING, INTERESTING! It's a way for the artists to connect with the fans. AND since a lot of the greats have been dropped from Labels, this is there Stab back at them. Because if the MUSIC is free & it's Good or Great, then people will totally plunk down the Cash to go see these artists in Concert! That's where the artists will Clean up… Ticket Sales!

Oasis Rocks. Radiohead has no problems selling albums. And this picture is outdated. That drummer isn't in the band anymore.

Glad to see some folks mentioning my fave, NIN. TR just posted on the nin.com site and The Spiral about being free from the corporate bastards in the music industry, and I'm glad to hear that artists are doing this! Look, if I like a band, I'm gonna BUY their stuff, plain and simple. If it's handed out for free, that's great, but it doesn't affect my like or dislike of the music. Now our fave bands can focus on the music and the fans instead of having to kow-tow to the industry! Hats off to all of them!

The artists signed to major labels don't see any money from cd sales. just from tours etc. the labels make the money from the cd's, and they are the ones hurting, not the artists. don't believe the hype.

The vast majority of earnings for musicians come from concerts and other live performances. Plus there is other related merchandise. Most of the cash from album sales is taken by the record companies anyway so it's a great idea to tell them to fuck off and die and skip the whole process. Go Oasis/Jamiroquai/Charlatans/Radiohead!
