Jeff Robinov, Warner Bros president of production, has industry players buzzing over his future. His decree that "we are no longer doing movies with women in the lead" has sent shock waves throughout the movie biz and even Gloria Allred is complaining!
The LA Weekly is reporting that Robin made his misogynistic decree following the box office disappointments of Jodie Foster's The Brave One and Nicole Kidman's The Invasion.

Bullshit, how many films within the last few months have failed with male leads? Perhaps it isn't the stars of the film but the themes that cause movie audiences to stay away.
Those movies did poorly because they both seemed to have weak story lines, not because of the lead actress. It doesn't matter who's staring in a movie… I am not going to pay almost $10 to see it if the plot doesn't look good.
Didn't the BRAVE ONE open at number 1…and I'm pretty sure it's probably made it's money back, it seemed like a smaller budget picture.

Nice choice in photos, Sandra Bullock with "Miss Congeniality" which grossed $212 million worldwide. She produced the film herself, so she had the last laugh I guess. What a pig, they didn't really promote the Jodi Foster film and "The Invasion" was supposed to be a horrible film anyway it wasn't Nicole Kidman's fault. Julia Roberts and "Runaway Bride" had a worldwide gross of over $300 million and call me crazy I don't think people went to see Richard Gere. Another one, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" domestic gross was $240 million and it was even written by a woman! Give the girls a break!

Frankly, I would love to see a great movie starring anyone - male or female - but why waste three hours (drive to theater, sit there, drive home) when the script/plot/etc. are mediocre?
I wish a name actress would star in a movie available only on the internet. Skip the $20 million payday and really act in a qulaity vehicle. The downloads alone would amaze the studios, or maybe that's what they're afraid of.

I don't think this is out of line. The lead actor gets $10million+ for these large productions. If a woman lead does not produce ticket sales, why should producers feel compelled to make them the lead? He's not saying that there won't be well paid women in the movie, he's talking about the draw.
Well, considering that both Jodie Foster and Nicole Kidman have both had huge success in other movies as the lead actress, I hardly doubt that they are the sole reason why these movies failed…..

Uh the Invasion did horrible but the Brave One didn't do that bad. Just because it didn't make as much as Flightplan they want to blame it on Jodie being a woman? Give me a break it made the money it did because of Jodie, Death Sentence starring Kevin Bacon had the same themes but was a HUGe flop at the box office!
