The Aftermath: Truly Awful

This is incredibly sad news.

John Graziano, the passenger critically injured in the car crash involving Hulk Hogan's son Nick, is not going to be making a recovery.

According to court documents, the young Marine will need lifelong care at a nursing home and at best will only be able to open and close his eyes periodically.

Just heartbreaking!

Many reports claim that Nick was speeding before the crash, which would hold him criminally responsible. Police are still investigating the incident.

Graziano is still in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center, more than a month after the crash.

A Sept. 19 report filed by registered nurse Joanne Jones, who was hired by the court to examine John Graziano to determine if he is incapacitated, said he was on total life support. The report said that Graziano was comatose and that he may have had a seizure.

Jones' report said Graziano responds to a pinch and has a gag reflex but does not otherwise respond to touch or sound. His pupils are fixed, meaning they don't respond to light.

Coleen Booker, a registered nurse with 14 years of emergency room experience at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville, said in an interview that it is not encouraging that he is on life support and his pupils are fixed.

"But the signs that he has a gag reflex and does respond to pain means he's not brain dead," said Booker, who is not involved with Graziano's treatment.

In her report, Jones detailed the injuries Graziano sustained during the wreck. He broke his skull at the base, had part of his skull cut out, experienced brain swelling and had cuts to the scalp. Bone was pushed in and broken in many pieces. He had abnormal collections of blood under the front side of the skull.

In an addendum, Jones included information given to her by Graziano's doctor, H. Bushnell Clarke. He told her that at best, Graziano will "open his eyes on and off."

"At this present time, he states his prognosis remains guarded," Jones wrote in her Sept. 26 addendum. "He states that this young man most likely will spend the remainder of his life in a nursing home."

She said Graziano should be re evaluated in six months to see if his condition improves.

According to court documents, Graziano was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Please, kids (and adults) don't drink and drive. Don't race your cars.

And wear your damn seat belts!!!!

OBVIOUSLY NO ONE FORCED JOHN TO RIDE WITH NICK BUT THAT DOESNT EXCUSE NICK FOR WHAT HE DID. FIRST OF ALL NICK SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN RACING AND JOHN SHOULD OF HAD HIS SEATBELT ON. I READ THAT NICK DIDNT HAVE HIS ON SO DONT KNOW IF THATS TRUE. I DONT THINK THAT NICK IS GOING TO JAIL OR ANYTHING SERIOUS B/C OF WHO HIS DAD IS AND THAT IS TOTALLY UNFAIR. IT BROKE MY HEART TO READ THAT THIS GUY WILL PROBABLY BE IN A NURSING HOME FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE. ITS SOOOO SAD AND I HOPE THAT THIS HAUNTS NICK FOR THE REST OF HIS MISERABLE LIFE. I LIKE TO WATCH HOGAN KNOWS BEST AND I USED TO THINK THAT NICK WAS EASYGOING AND IT DIDNT SEEM THAT HE WAS ALL INTO THE MONEY, BUT I WAS WRONG! THEY SHOULD SERIOUSLY PUNISH HIM, I DONT CARE IF HIS DADS HULK HOGAN, HE AINT ALL THAT. ALL THE EVIDENCE IS THERE AND IT IS CRAZY THAT HE IS STILL ON THE LOOSE, IF IT WOULDVE BEEN AN AVERAGE JOE, HIS ASS WOULD OF BEEN IN JAIL AS THE SECOND.

      Jen-

      YOU ARE PATHETIC!!!

      Let me guess…….. you're a liberal…..right?

You can take your Ivy League education, and your pompus attidtude and SHOVE IT!

You may have good writing skills, and are obviously intelligent. But you are a loser, and will aways be a loser!

I am nothing but a lowly salesman. With only a year of Junior College under my bealt. Far too inferior for the likes of you. But guess what??? My household income is $180,000 a year. I carry ZERO debt, and will be able to retire at age 50 (11yrs) and will never have to worry about money!

Good luck working 70hr weeks as a lawyer!

I will continue to enjoy the 2hrs per morning I spend with my daughter playing. The 2 times a week I go to the gym, the 2 times per week I golf, getting home between 4-5pm, etc…. You get the idea. Dummies like me will have a LIFE, while geniuses like you….. will be a slave to the grindstone!

Hopefully this much publicized story will be a wake-up call for the many young people out there who think that speeding and reckless driving are just harmless fun. Now you can clearly see that is NOT so.

It would be a real crime for Nick Bollea to escape this without charges because I seriously think that he and his family have little remorse for the state of the victim in this case (or at least that is certainly the impression that they give off publicly) and really seem like they are just glad it was not the fate of their son instead.

Nick's attitude about the seriouslness of speeding and reckless driving is unfortunately reflected in a lot of youth these days, however. It is my opinion that there should be much stiffer penalties for such and that driving licenses should be revoked certainly for people that can not take the lives and safety of others on the road and even passenger in their own vehicles seriously when they are behind the wheel. Immature, irresponsible and generally inconsiderate and insensitive people do not DESERVE a liscence!

How pathetic that the Hogan family could go public with "full
recovery" statements. They had to know full well that this kid was
probably never going to wake up. Did they think that the public
would never find out???? Hulk was probably striking a behind the
scene deal to cover it all up. They way daddy Hogan overlooks Nick's
smartass antics and irresponsible behavior is disgusting!!!!!! LET
NICK GO TO IRAQ and send his no talent sister with him. HOGAN DON"T
      KNOW SH**!!!!!!

    14. Judge Doody says – reply to this

      515

I understand that all kids do get out of control to where parents cant do anything. But at some point you have to teach your children what could happen and let your children know that this can be you and it can hit close to home. Yes I do think since Nick is still a minor Hogan and his wife should be held some what responsible for Nick's mistake. And yes nick needs to learn the hard way and understand all choices have there ups and downs. Cant be spoiled and get a slap on the hand forever. And he's knows right from wrong including Hogan and his wife. Why would ever allow your teenager to drive a sports car? why else does a teenager want a sport car!?? Parents need to think as well!

      518

What scares me is this could've been my daughter or son with this idiot. It could've been yours, too! What then? What if the tables had been turned and John was driving and Nick in hospital?? I'd bet that Hulk would have John's license taken from him then, huh?

    19. y does he have a license? says – reply to this

      519

y and how did nick even have a license to begin with? it's a PRIVILEDGE to drive, NOT a RIGHT! but yet he treats it as if he has the RIGHT to speed and race on the public streets? is he ABOVE the law? i wasn't aware that he was God. y didn't someone tell me?

    21. Age is no excuse says – reply to this

      521

When I was 16, my father bought me a new vette with two rules: "You get even ONE ticket and you are walking, you hear me?" I did. "NO passengers in the car, EVER! DO you hear me?" I did. We know why he made these rules, insurance, passengers, and being sued. I missed one question on the written driver's test, but perfect score on the actual driving test. Have to admit, I was tempted to have my best gf (I'm a girl) ride with me, but I remembered my father's rules. I also remembered the harsh reality of my father growing up dirt poor, working his ass OFF to give me the things he never had. So I dutifully obeyed. I should be grateful. I am. So should this fool. I want to see restitution in the WORST way!!!

This is what happens when litte punks with too much money, have too much time on their hands! Lock him up for good. He doesnt deserve to walk with those who obey the law.

I wasnt almost killed by a drunk driver on December 26th, 2000. It sickens me to know that there is another idiot like that driving. I sympathize with the family of the young man who is on life support.

This is very sad and disgusting! Nick Boella, should without a doubt be charged for taking this young man's life, but the disgusting thing about it is that his father will pay to get him out of this mess. Let's face it, the legal system is blind when it comes to money and fame. Look at LILO and Nicole!!!

F— Nick 'Hogan'. He crippled a Marine. Nick deserves to rot in jail while doing manual labor. I'm a wrestling fan and I'm not giving any of my money to the Hulkster because of what his kid did. It makes me sick.

You don't live in L.A., you're not supposed to be doing stupid celeb crap when you're not even a celeb…Nick you have no job, you're on a reality show with your cool Dad and your beautiful talented sister. You have a fantastic and sexy Mom so why oh why are you being stupid? My heart goes out to the injured guy and his family and also to the Hogans who don't need this crap. It ticks me off because if I were in his family I'd kick his a**. This makes me afraid to have kids, they're stupid.

      529

To be able to say that the pt is not brain dead because he has a gag reflex & responds to pain is very wrong. That nurse does not have the right info. Pain is mostly because of sympathetic response and so I'm sure his BP goes up when he has pain & goes back down when he is given pain meds. The fact that the pupils are fixed means that there is injury to the brain stem.

      531

Re: reality calling – Being a nurse for several years, I have seen many passengers and drivers who have been killed in automobile accidents. People DO and CAN die from wearing a seat belt! At the point of impact those seat belts can break/snap or whatever the case maybe. By looking at pictures and videos of the car, there was a significant amount of damage on the passenger side as well as his head rest broke off. Can you actually prove with a without a doubt things would be different otherwise??? I highly doubt it. Nick was the one driving the vehicle therefore he is liable for what happens to his passengers. For anyone to blame John, is pure ignorant! My thoughts and prayers are with John and The Graziano family.

I have mixed feelings about this. I think he's a total dumbass for causing this accident, but the better part of me says hopefully his example will lead many to not do the same thing. He should pay a penalty for what he did, but what would make him feel worse than what he did?
